Transformations of Group 7 Carbonyl Complexes: Possible Intermediates in a Homogeneous Syngas Conversion Scheme [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A variety of C−H and C−C bond forming reactions of group 7 carbonyl complexes have been studied as potential steps in a homogeneously catalyzed conversion of syngas to C_(2+) compounds.

Merging Biocatalysis and Chemocatalysis in Flow: State‐of‐the‐Art and Future Directions for Sustainable Synthesis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in integrating biocatalysis and chemocatalysis in continuous flow to create streamlined, sustainable processes. It examines chemo‐enzymatic cascades combining at least one enzymatic and one chemical step, discusses challenges such as enzyme immobilization, leaching, and reactor clogging, and presents solutions ...

Reciprocal polyhedra and the Euler relationship: cage hydrocarbons, CnHn and closo-boranes [BxHx]2−

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2011
The closo-boranes BxHx+2, or their corresponding anions [BxHx]2− (where x = 5 through 12) and polycycloalkanes CnHn (where n represents even numbers from 6 through 20) exhibit a complementary relationship whereby the structures of the corresponding ...

B-Methylated Amine-Boranes:Substituent Redistribution, Catalytic Dehydrogenation, and Facile Metal-Free Hydrogen Transfer Reactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Although the dehydrogenation chemistry of amine-boranes substituted at nitrogen has attracted considerable attention, much less is known about the reactivity of their B-substituted analogues. When the B-methylated amine-borane adducts, RR′NH·BH2Me (1a: R

The Far Side of Carboranes: Anticancer Active Monocations and Ambiently Stable Dications

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This work describes the synthesis of bench‐stable dicationic carboranes. Their enhanced electrophilicity is documented by opening the clusters with weak nucleophiles or dihydrogen. The surprising stability of positively charged carboranes in water enabled a study of their in vitro antiproliferative activity, which surpassed the effects of doxorubicin ...

Design, Synthesis, and Evaluation of B-(Trifluoromethyl)phenyl Phosphine–Borane Derivatives as Novel Progesterone Receptor Antagonists

open access: yesMolecules
We previously revealed that phosphine–boranes can function as molecular frameworks for biofunctional molecules. In the present study, we exploited the diversity of available phosphines to design and synthesize a series of B-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl ...

Structural and Chemical Engineering of Sub‐Nanochannel Membranes Toward Ion Selectivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes recent advances in structural and chemical engineering of sub‐nanochannels for ion selectivity. We first introduce fundamental ion transport mechanisms within sub‐nanochannels, followed by strategies to tune pore size, geometry, and surface functionalities, categorized into charge‐based, ion‐recognition, hydrophilic bonding, and ...

Boron‐Doping of a Macrocyclic Tetrafuran Framework Unveils an Expanded Porphyrinoid With Switchable (Anti)Aromaticity and Conformational Dynamics

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We disclose a novel boron macrocycle derived from the sustainable furan building block. The boraporphyrinoid exhibits a global antiaromatic ring current and dynamic conformational flexibility. Twofold reduction induces a switch to strong global aromaticity, accompanied by stiffening of the porphyrinoid backbone.

Solvent‐Mediated Reactivity Control of Lewis‐Paired Dopants as a Versatile Strategy for Tunable and Stable Doping of Organic Semiconductors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Solvent‐mediated reactivity control of Lewis‐paired dopants enables highly efficient, finely tunable, and stable doping of organic semiconductors. The optimally doped semiconductor films exhibit superior thermoelectric performance and doping stability, feature delocalized polarons along structurally ordered polymer backbones, and outperform ...
