Simulating the Solidification of Boride–Boride Eutectics

Powder Metallurgy and Metal Ceramics, 2017
Computer simulations of structurization in boride–boride ceramics are performed using the standard version of phase-field theory. The simulations reproduce the main properties of eutectic structures observed in experiments, i.e., spatial segregation of components, structure formation from an overcooled melt, and complete decomposition of the system ...

Stability of Hyperlithiated Borides

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 1999
Structures and energetics of BLin (n = 4−8) clusters are predicted using the SCF, MP2, and B3LYP methods with the 6-31G(d) basis set, including energy evaluations at G2MP2. Cohesive energies, defined as the enthalpies of the BLin → B + Lin reactions, and Li and Li2 elimination reaction enthalpies are also estimated at B3LYP.

Precursor routes to Group 4 metal borides, and metal boride/carbide and metal boride/nitride composites

Journal of Materials Science, 2004
Precursor routes to Group 4 metal borides, as well as metal-boride/carbide and metal-boride/nitride composites, that employ metal-oxide/polymer and metal/polymer dispersions are described. The metal boride precursors were initially obtained by dispersing metal oxides in a decaborane-dicyanopentane polymer, but better results have now been achieved ...

Boride Cathodes

Journal of Applied Physics, 1950
The thermionic emission properties of the borides of the alkaline-earth and rare-earth metals and thorium have been investigated. These compounds all have the same formula MB6 and the same crystal structure consisting of a three-dimensional boron framework in whose interlattice spaces the metal atoms are embedded.
