Efficient Synthesis of Boron-Containing α-Acyloxyamide Analogs via Microwave Irradiation
In this report, a Passerini three-component reaction utilizing boron-containing carboxylic acids or aldehydes is discussed. The reaction was carried out in water and facilitated by the use of microwave irradiation.

Nanostructured boron agents for boron neutron capture therapy: a review of recent patents
Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is a potential radiation therapy modality for cancer, and tumor-targeted stable boron-10 (10B) delivery agents are an important component of BNCT. Currently, two low-molecular-weight boron-containing compounds, sodium

A New Synthesis of Polyheterocyclic Compounds Containing Nitrogen and Boron Atoms
Tetraazatricyclanes containing two boron atoms in the molecular framework were synthesized for the first time via the heterocyclization reaction of tetraamines with tetrakis(dimethylamino)diborane.

ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Synthesis and Characterization of Gd-Functionalized B4C Nanoparticles for BNCT Applications
Inorganic nanoparticles of boron-rich compounds represent an attractive alternative to boron-containing molecules, such as boronophenylalanine or boranes, for BNCT applications. This work describes the synthesis and biological activity of multifunctional

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

The effect of substitute nature on the effectiveness of boron-nitrogen wood preservatives and flame retardants [PDF]
Introduction. Antiseptic and antipyretic treatment of wood is a prerequisite for its use in modern construction technologies. The use of boron compounds for these purposes has a significant advantage: the formation of stable chemical bonds between the

RADIATION EFFECTS ON BORON-CONTAINING COMPOUNDS [PDF]
Elemental boron, boron carbide, and zirconium diboride were irradiated at reactor ambient temperature (150 deg ) and elevated temperatures (500 to 750 deg F) to burnups ranging from 20 to 95 per cent of the boron-10 isotope. Zirconium diboride containing both natural and enriched amounts of boron-10 was evaluated.

Time‐Dependent Oxidation and Scale Evolution of a Wrought Co/Ni‐Based Superalloy
This study shows how a new wrought Co/Ni‐based superalloy resists oxidation at 800 ∘$^\circ$C. The oxide scale changes from rough, fast‐growing spinel to a dense, protective chromia–alumina layer. Atom probe analysis reveals tiny refractory‐rich bubbles at the interface that mark the transition to long‐term, diffusion‐controlled protection ...

Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...
