Suppression of axial growth by boron incorporation in GaAs nanowires grown by self-catalyzed molecular beam epitaxy

open access: yes, 2018
The addition of boron to GaAs nanowires grown by self-catalyzed molecular beam epitaxy was found to have a strong effect on the nanowire morphology, with axial growth greatly reduced as the nominal boron concentration was increased. Transmission electron

Ultrahigh thermal conductivity in isotope-enriched cubic boron nitride

open access: yesScience, 2020
A cool way to use isotopes Thermal management of electronics requires materials that can efficiently remove heat. Several promising materials have been found recently, but diamond remains the bulk material with the highest thermal conductivity.

Boron Abundances in the Galactic Disk

open access: yes, 2010
When compared to lithium and beryllium, the absence of boron lines in the optical results in a relatively small data set of boron abundances measured in Galactic stars to date.

Screening of antimicrobial resistance and molecular detection of fluoroquinolone resistance mechanisms in chicken faeces-derived Escherichia coli

open access: yesVeterinární Medicína, 2016
This study was aimed at investigating the resistance to antimicrobial agents and to assess the predominant molecular mechanisms of fluoroquinolone resistance in faecal E. coli strains isolated from chickens farmed in central Poland.

Boron concentration profiling by high angle annular dark field-scanning transmission electron microscopy in homoepitaxial delta-doped diamond layers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
To develop further diamond related devices, the concentration and spatial location of dopants should be controlled down to the nanometer scale. Scanning transmission electron microscopy using the high angle annular dark field mode is shown to be ...

Ubiquitination of transcription factors in cancer: unveiling therapeutic potential

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In cancer, dysregulated ubiquitination of transcription factors contributes to the uncontrolled growth and survival characteristics of tumors. Tumor suppressors are degraded by aberrant ubiquitination, or oncogenic transcription factors gain stability through ubiquitination, thereby promoting tumorigenesis.

Issues on the molecular-beam epitaxial growth of p-SiGe inverted-modulation-doped structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The influence of boron segregation and silicon cap-layer thickness on two-dimensional hole gases (2-DHGs) has been investigated in Si/Si0.8Ge0.2/Si inverted-modulation-doped heterostructures grown by solid-source molecular-beam epitaxy. Boron segregation,

BMP antagonist CHRDL2 enhances the cancer stem‐cell phenotype and increases chemotherapy resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.
