Influence of boron content on the fracture toughness and fatigue crack propagation kinetics of bainitic steels [PDF]
The relatively good combination of high strength and ductility makes bainitic steels a candidate to replace many other steels in industrial applications. However, in service, ductility and strength are not up to standard requirements.

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Potential microbiological threat to the Vistula waters by its tributaries in the vicinity of Kraków
The Vistula is the longest river in Poland. It stretches from the Silesian Beskids to the Gulf of Gdańsk. Water from the Vistula is the source of drinking water for many cities and is used in industry, and therefore its quality and microbiological purity

Atomic and electronic structure of nitrogen- and boron-doped phosphorene
First principle modeling of nitrogen- and boron-doped phosphorene demonstrates the tendency toward formation of highly ordered structures. Nitrogen doping leads to the formation of -N-P-P-P-N- lines.

The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of

Catalytic role of boron atoms in self-interstitial clustering in Si [PDF]
Using density functional theory (DFT) calculations and kinetic simulations, we have investigated the influence of boron atoms on self-interstitial clustering in Si. From DFT calculations of neutral interstitial clusters with a single B atom (BsIn, nIn–1 +
