Synthesis of Dithienylcycloalkene Molecular Switches Enabled by a Bench‐Stable Ti‐Complex

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Herein we report a set of cycloalkene‐bridged DTEs with ring sizes ranging from 4‐ to 7‐membered rings. The synthesis of these analogs was performed via a key McMurry coupling step, which was enabled by a practical, bench‐stable Ti(IV)‐complex. Remarkably, it is shown that the strained cyclobutene bridge outperforms other rings, even the most commonly ...

Transition-metal-free homologative cross-coupling of aldehydes and ketones with geminal bis(boron) compounds [PDF]

open access: yes
We report a transition-metal-free coupling of aldehydes and ketones with geminal bis(boron) building blocks which provides the coupled, homologated carbonyl compound upon oxidation.

Regioselective routes to orthogonally-substituted aromatic MIDA boronates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A series of tetrasubstituted aromatics has been synthesized, many of which are based on elaborated N-methyliminodiacetic acid (MIDA)-boronates. A sequence employing nitration, bromination, stepwise Suzuki-Miyaura (SM) coupling with a boronic acid, then ...

Synthesis of 1‐Alkynylboronates, 1,1‐Diborylalkenes, and 1,1,1‐Triborylalkanes: Challenges and Opportunities

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In the field of organoboron chemistry, multi(boronate) esters have emerged as crucial intermediates, with various applications in synthetic chemistry, material technology, and life sciences. This mini‐review discusses recent advancement in the synthesis of these versatile compounds, particularly alkynylboronates, 1,1‐diborylalkenes, and 1,1,1 ...

Pd‐Catalyzed C─C Bond Borylation of Biphenylenes Leading to Tri‐Ortho‐Substituted Biaryls

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Palladium‐catalyzed ring‐opening C─C borylation of 1‐substituted biphenylenes yields a range of o,o,o′‐trisubstituted biaryls with two ortho‐boryl groups via selective cleavage of the least hindered C─C bond. The resulting diborylated products are readily amenable to sequential, site‐selective postfunctionalization.

Biaryl Product Formation from Cross-coupling in Palladiumcatalyzed Borylation of a Boc Protected Aminobromoquinoline Compound

open access: yesMolecules, 2004
The palladium catalyzed borylation of a Boc protected aminobromoquinoline compound with bis(pinacolato)diboron yielded a biaryl compound, resulting from cross coupling, as the major product, instead of the intended boronate, even though no strong base ...

Boron Neutron Capture Therapy at a Crossroads: Translational Gap and Emerging Delivery Agents

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
This review surveys recent advances in boron delivery agents for BNCT, emphasizing the shift from classical small molecules to multifunctional nanocarriers and theranostic systems. By integrating targeting, imaging, and therapy, next‐generation boron compounds aim to bridge the gap between (bio)chemical innovation and clinical translation.

Enantio‐ and Regioselective Cascade Hydroboration of Methylenecyclopropanes for Facile Access to Chiral 1,3‐ and 1,4‐Bis(boronates)

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Chiral 1, n‐bis(boronate) plays a crucial role in organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry. However, their catalytic and asymmetric synthesis has long posed a challenge in terms of operability and accessibility from readily available substrates.

Accessing Sn≥2 States of a TADF Emitter by Femtosecond NIR Spectroscopy

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The depicted thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitter was studied by femtosecond near‐infrared (NIR) spectroscopy. A prominent NIR transition was shown to be strongly solvent‐dependent, with implication for intersystem crossing in the compound.

Self‐Immolative Gels: Programmable Degradation Using Self‐Immolative Linkers and Polymers

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Self‐immolative linkers and polymers undergo bond‐cleaving reaction cascades in response to specific stimuli. Their incorporation into gels can be harnessed to release cargo, induce property changes, or trigger degradation in a highly controlled manner. These functions can be employed in applications such as sensing and drug delivery.
