Understanding the daily cycle of evapotranspiration: a method to quantify the influence of forcings and feedbacks [PDF]
A method to analyze the daily cycle of evapotranspiration over land is presented. It quantifies the influence of external forcings, such as radiation and advection, and of internal feedbacks induced by boundary layer, surface layer, and land surface ...

Boundary layer emission and Z-track in the color-color diagram of luminous LMXBs
We demonstrate that Fourier-frequency resolved spectra of atoll and Z- sources are identical, despite significant difference in their average spectra and luminosity (by a factor of ~10-20).

Boundary layer temperature measurements of a noctual urban boundary layer [PDF]
A low-power lidar system based in Manchester, United Kingdom has been developed to measure temperature profiles in the nocturnal urban boundary layer. The lidar transmitter uses a 355nm diode-pumped solid state Nd:YAG laser and two narrow-band interference filters in the receiver filter out rotational Raman lines that are dependent on temperature.

On Reflection of Shock Waves from Boundary Layers [PDF]
Measurements of the reflection characteristics of shock waves from a flat surface with a laminar and turbulent boundary layer are presented. The investigations were carried out at Mach numbers from about 1.3 to 1.5 and a Reynolds number of 0.9 x 10^4.

The influence of fixed temperature and fixed heat flux thermal boundary conditions on rapidly rotating convection in the plane layer geometry is investigated for the case of stress-free mechanical boundary conditions. It is shown that whereas the leading

The flow structure behind vortex generators embedded in a decelerating turbulent boundary layer [PDF]
The objective of the present work is to analyse the behaviour of a turbulent decelerating boundary layer under the effect of both passive and active jets vortex generators (VGs).

Parameterization of Wave Boundary Layer [PDF]
It is known that drag coefficient varies in broad limits depending on wind velocity and wave age as well as on wave spectrum and some other parameters. All those effects produce large scatter of the drag coefficient, so, the data is plotted as a function of wind velocity forming a cloud of points with no distinct regularities.
