Quantum field theories with boundaries and novel instabilities [PDF]
Quantum physics on manifolds with boundary brings novel aspects due to boundary conditions. One important feature is the appearance of localised negative eigenmodes for the Laplacian on the boundary. These can potentially lead to instabilities. We consider quantum field theories on such manifolds and interpret these as leading to the onset of phase ...

Duality and transport for supersymmetric graphene from the hemisphere partition function
We use localization to compute the partition function of a four dimensional, supersymmetric, abelian gauge theory on a hemisphere coupled to charged matter on the boundary.

Properties of RG interfaces for 2D boundary flows
We consider RG interfaces for boundary RG flows in two-dimensional QFTs. Such interfaces are particular boundary condition changing operators linking the UV and IR conformal boundary conditions. We refer to them as RG operators.

Quantum gravity in three dimensions, Witten spinors and the quantisation of length
In this paper, I investigate the quantisation of length in euclidean quantum gravity in three dimensions. The starting point is the classical hamiltonian formalism in a cylinder of finite radius. At this finite boundary, a counter term is introduced that

A Lorentzian inversion formula for defect CFT
We present a Lorentzian inversion formula valid for any defect CFT that extracts the bulk channel CFT data as an analytic function of the spin variable.

Overlap singularity and time evolution in integrable quantum field theory
We study homogeneous quenches in integrable quantum field theory where the initial state contains zero-momentum particles. We demonstrate that the two-particle pair amplitude necessarily has a singularity at the two-particle threshold.

Casimir energy in terms of boundary quantum field theory: The QED case [PDF]
We revisit the path integral computation of the Casimir energy between two infinite parallel plates placed in a QED vacuum. We implement perfectly magnetic conductor boundary conditions (as a prelude to the dual superconductor picture of the QCD vacuum) via constraint fields and show how an effective gauge theory can be constructed for the constraint ...

Rényi entanglement entropies for the compactified massless boson with open boundary conditions
We investigate the Rényi entanglement entropies for the one-dimensional massless free boson compactified on a circle, which describes the low energy sector of several interacting many-body 1d systems (Luttinger Liquid).
