Upper and lower bounds for sums of random variables. [PDF]

open access: yes
In this contribution, the upper bounds for sums of dependent random variables X1 + X2 + … + X n derived by using comonotonicity are sharpened for the case when there exists a random variable Z such that the distribution functions of the Xi, given Z = z ...

Realistic computable error bounds for three dimensional finite element analyses in linear elasticity

open access: yes, 2011
We obtain a computable estimator for the energy norm of the error in piecewise affine and piecewise quadratic finite element approximations of linear elasticity in three dimensions.

On Interpretations of Bounded Arithmetic and Bounded Set Theory

open access: yesNotre Dame Journal of Formal Logic, 2009
In a recent paper, Kaye and Wong proved the following result, which they considered to belong to the folklore of mathematical logic. THEOREM: The first-order theories of Peano arithmetic and ZF with the axiom of infinity negated are bi-interpretable: that is, they are mutually interpretable with interpretations that are inverse to each other.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Bounds for present value functions with stochastic interest rates and stochastic volatility. [PDF]

open access: yes
The distribution of the present value of a series of cash flows under stochastic interest rates has been investigated by many researchers. One of the main problems in this context is the fact that the calculation of exact analytical results for this type

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Option bounds for multinomial stock returns in Jump-Diffusion processes - a Monte Carlo simulation for a multi-jump process [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper addresses the problem of option bounds computation under the assumption that the price of the underlying asset follows a jump-diffusion Merton process as formulated in Perrakis (1993) extending the number of the jumps from one jump up and one ...
