The yak (Bosgrunniens) is a unique domestic bovine species that plays an indispensable role for herdsmen in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Here, 336 diarrhoeic samples were collected from yaks on 29 farms in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau from 2015 to 2017.

Secreted Nonstructural Protein 3 is a Pathogenic Determinant of Orbivirus
This study uncovers a conserved PIP2‐dependent secretory pathway of orbivirus NS3 that induces vascular leakage. Pharmacological disruption of PIP2‐NS3 interaction significantly reduces viral pathogenicity and provides protective efficacy in murine models, establishing PIP2‐mediated NS3 secretion as both a key virulence determinant and a promising ...

Characterization of Winter Dysentery Bovine Coronavirus Isolated from Cattle in Israel
Bovine coronavirus (BCoV) is the causative agent of winter dysentery (WD). In adult dairy cattle, WD is characterized by hemorrhagic diarrhea and a reduction in milk production. Therefore, WD leads to significant economic losses in dairy farms.

Palmitoylation by ZDHHC18 blocks ORF3a K27‐linked ubiquitination mediated by TRIM16, thereby preventing its proteasomal degradation and strengthening viral pathogenesis. Targeting palmitoylation through a pharmacological inhibitor (2‐BP), a competitive inhibitory peptide (OPIP), or adenovirus‐mediated knockdown of ZDHHC18 expression presents a ...

Temporal Regulation of RNA Synthesis of Bovine Coronavirus [PDF]
It has been shown with mouse hepatitis virus (MHV) and avian infectious bronchitis virus that all of the subgenomic mRNAs and genomic RNA are synthesized at the same rate throughout the viral replication cycle (Leibowitz et al., 1981; Stern and Kennedy, 1980). The viral genomic RNA gradually accumulates late in infection.

Serum Antibodies to Bovine Coronavirus in Swedish Sheep [PDF]
Altogether 218 sheep sera from 40 flocks in different parts of Sweden were screened for antibodies to bovine coronavirus (BCV). Nineteen per cent of the sera were positive and there was a significantly higher frequency (p < 0.05) of at least one positive sample in flocks with more than 100 adult sheep than in smaller flocks.

Heterogeneity of gene expression of the hemagglutinin-esterase (HE) protein of murine coronaviruses. [PDF]
The hemagglutinin-esterase (HE) membrane glycoprotein is present only in some members of the coronavirus family, including some strains of mouse hepatitis virus (MHV). In the JHM strain of MHV, expression of the HE gene is variable and corresponds to the

Structure and Expression of the Bovine Coronavirus Hemagglutinin Protein [PDF]
cDNA clones prepared from genomic RNA of the Mebus strain of bovine Coronavirus (BCV) were sequenced to reveal the hemagglutinin (H) gene of 1,272 bases that predicts a 47,700 mol. wt. apoprotein of 424 amino acids. The H gene mapped on the immediate 5′ side of the peplomer gene.

Biosynthesis, structure, and biological activities of envelope protein gp65 of murine coronavirus. [PDF]
We have previously shown that gp65 (E3) is a virion structural protein which varies widely in quantity among different strains of mouse hepatitis virus (MHV). In this study, the biosynthetic pathway and possible biological activities of this protein were

Purification and electron cryomicroscopy of coronavirus particles. [PDF]
Intact, enveloped coronavirus particles vary widely in size and contour, and are thus refractory to study by traditional structural means such as X-ray crystallography. Electron microscopy (EM) overcomes some problems associated with particle variability
