A commercial enzyme immune assay in serodiagnosis of bovine herpesvirus 1 infections

The biology and development of vaccines for bovine herpesvirus 1.

open access: yesThe Veterinary Journal
Bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BoAHV-1) infections lead to compromised herd health and significantly reduced productivity of affected cattle. While BoAHV-1 may cause rhinotracheitis, conjunctivitis, genital infections, and abortions, respiratory tract ...

Bovine herpesvirus 5 BICP0 complements the bovine herpesvirus 1 homolog [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary Microbiology, 2010
Bovine herpesvirus 1 (BoHV-1) and BoHV-5 are closely related (82% amino acid identity) but differ strongly in neuropathogenesis. The immediate-early gene for BICP0 is less conserved (70% amino acid identity) and may contribute to a dissimilar phenotype.

The demonstration of a herpesvirus, related to bovine herpesvirus 1, in reindeer with ulcerative and necrotizing lesions of the upper alimentary tract and nose

open access: yesRangifer, 1990
In 11 male reindeer, all esposed to transportation stress, signs of conjunctivitis and later on ulcerative and necrotizing lesions of the mucosa of the nostrils and mouth were recorded. Blood and secretions from the nose were sampled.

Are all bovine herpesvirus-1 reproductive disease events vaccine-induced?

open access: yes, 2016
Modified-live virus (MLV) bovine herpesvirus 1 (BHV-1) vaccines have been a major part of the program to the prevention of reproductive disease in cattle. However, their use (or misuse) continues to result in major abortion storms.

EBV‐Driven ODC1 Upregulation Enhances Polyamine Anabolism to Promote Viral Replication and Cisplatin Resistance in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
EBV‑BZLF1 initiates ODC1‑driven polyamine anabolism that correlates with poor clinical prognosis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The ODC1–spermidine axis promotes viral replication, cell proliferation and innate immune evasion. Pharmacological inhibition of ODC1 rescues cisplatin sensitivity, establishing ODC1 as a viable therapeutic target for EBV ...

Targeting the NR1D1–IGF2BP2–V‐ATPase Axis With Hybrid Nanovesicles Restores Macrophage Rhythms to Reverse Sepsis‐Induced Immunosuppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sepsis disrupts immune‐cell rhythms and weakens bacterial clearance. Biomimetic nanovesicles combining erythrocyte and inflammation‐activated macrophage membranes deliver siNR1D1 to dysfunctional macrophages, restoring the NR1D1–IGF2BP2–V‐ATPase pathway, circadian regulation, phagolysosomal acidification, and antimicrobial defense.

Novel Entry Pathway of Bovine Herpesvirus 1 and 5 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1998
ABSTRACT Herpesviruses enter cells by a yet poorly understood mechanism. We visualized the crucial steps of the entry pathway of bovine herpesvirus 1 (BHV-1) and BHV-5 by transmission and scanning electron microscopy, employing cryotechniques that include time monitoring, ultrarapid freezing, and freeze substitution of cultured cells ...
