Interactions of cannabinoids with bovine serum albumin

open access: yesBioscience Reports, 1984
There is no shift of emission maximum (F470nm) of bovine serum albumin (BSA)-l-anilino-8-naphthatene sulphonic acid (ANS) complex in the pesence of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (delta-9-THC) alone and cannabidiol (CBD) or cannabinol (CBN) in the presence and absence of delta-9-THC.

Suppression of lung adenocarcinoma migration through organelle alkalization by human lactoferrin – albumin fusion

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This paper reveals how human lactoferrin–albumin fusion (hLF‐HSA) potently suppresses lung adenocarcinoma cell migration. hLF‐HSA upregulates NHE7, leading to Golgi alkalization, disruption of the Golgi secretome, downregulation of MMP1, and reversal of EMT. These findings suggest a novel Golgi‐targeting strategy to suppress cancer cell migration.

Serum-free cultured meat production by using Pichia pastoris-derived recombinant albumin

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Cultured meat production involves the growth, differentiation, and food processing of muscle satellite cells. However, its heavy reliance on fetal bovine serum (FBS) significantly increases production costs, which has prompted interest in ...

FTIR study of secondary structure of bovine serum albumin and ovalbumin

open access: yes, 2016
Proteins structure is the critical factor for their functioning. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy provides a possibility to obtain information about secondary structure of proteins in different states and also in a whole biological samples ...

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

In vitro assessment of potential bladder papillary neoplasm treatment with functionalized polyethyleneimine coated magnetic nanoparticles

open access: yesActa Chimica Slovenica, 2017
Normal porcine urothelial cells have been shown to have a much lower rate of endocytosis than urothelial papillary neoplasm cells. This could be used as a mechanism for selective delivery of toxic compounds, such as polyethyleneimine coated nanoparticles
