This thesis deals with aspects of the epidemiology of bovine viral diarrhoea virus (BVDV) of relevance to control, with particular focus on the situation in Peruvian smallholder dairy farms. In addition, the importance of Neospora caninum and bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BHV-1) is addressed, as these are important differential diagnoses to BVDV.

Journal of Comparative Pathology, 1972Abstract New-born, colostrum-deprived pigs were inoculated intranasally with the CL10 strain of bovine viral diarrhoea virus. Clinical signs of infection did not appear. Virus was recovered from the respiratory tract of all infected pigs killed within 3 weeks of inoculation, but recoveries from other tissues were more erratic.
