Clinical progress note: Rotavirus
Abstract Rotavirus is a vaccine‐preventable cause of acute, viral gastroenteritis typically characterized by diarrhea, vomiting, and fever. Prior to rotavirus vaccine introduction, nearly all children worldwide had been infected by 5 years of age. Severe rotavirus gastroenteritis causes dehydration and electrolyte derangements, and infants and young ...

Glycoproteins of Bovine Viral Diarrhoea-Mucosal Disease Virus in Infected Bovine Cells
Bovine cell cultures infected with bovine viral diarrhoea-mucosal disease (BVD) virus were radiolabelled with L-[35S]methionine or D-[2-3H]mannose followed by analysis of the labelled polypeptides by radioimmunoprecipitation and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis in one and two dimensions. Six glycoproteins were detected in infected cells. Two abundant

Abstract Background Disease in primary care frequently represents a surveillance blind spot, particularly for diseases affecting farm animals. Methods Electronic health records (EHRs) were collected from four farm animal veterinary practices in Wales (February 2024‒January 2025) as part of a pilot study.

Detection of Bovine Viral Diarrhoea Virus p80 Protein in Subpopulations of Bovine Leukocytes
Flow cytometry and two-colour immunofluorescence were used to detect cytoplasmic bovine viral diarrhoea virus (BVDV) antigen in leukocytes from viraemic cattle. Monoclonal antibody to the p80 protein of BVDV, a non-structural viral antigen, was used to identify the subpopulations of leukocytes in which viral protein synthesis had occurred.

Kaempferol modulates the tryptophan metabolism pathway by increasing the abundances of Christensenellaceae R7 group, Bacteroides, and Blautia and reducing that of Rikenellaceae RC9 gut group, thereby significantly increasing the levels of ILA and IAA. This process inhibits the activation of NF‐κB/NLRP3 signaling pathway, reduces pro‐inflammatory factor

Iron Physiology and Its Impact on Atopic Diseases: An EAACI Taskforce Report
ABSTRACT Iron is essential for oxygen transport, energy metabolism, and immune regulation. Yet iron deficiency is the most common micronutrient disorder across all age groups, affecting nearly one quarter of the global population. Iron deficiency triggers nutritional immunity, a host defense mechanism that withholds and redistributes iron, contributing

ABSTRACT In finfish aquaculture, there are several inflammatory diseases impacting productivity and animal welfare, however there are limited options available to veterinarians to treat inflammation and pain in fish. Nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are widely used in terrestrial animals raised for human consumption to treat a range of ...

Plant‐Based Production of Human Major Histocompatibility Complex Class II Molecules
ABSTRACT Major histocompatibility complex class II (MHC II) protein triggers adaptive immune responses by presenting antigens on antigen‐presenting cells (APCs) to be recognised by CD4+ T cells. Recombinant MHC II proteins are effective for the analysis of peptide‐binding interaction, detection of antigen‐specific T‐cells and clinical testing for donor‐

Understanding exosomes in facial esthetics and skin aging
Abstract Background Skin aging is a multifactorial process mediated by intrinsic (genetic and metabolic) and extrinsic (environmental) factors leading to functional and structural deterioration, including wrinkles, loss of collagen and elastin, as well as various pigmentation disorders.
