Why human connection is the true metric of research success

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human‐centred mentorship can be shaped by mentor attributes, actions, intrinsic drive and career ambition. Drawing on reflections across Singapore and France, as well as workshop insights from FEBS‐IUBMB ENABLE 2024, this article shows that human‐centred mentorship creates the conditions for sustainable growth, well‐being and retention in research ...

Identifying gene expression signatures for risk stratification of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy in colorectal cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A novel signature integrating genome‐wide analysis with clinical factors predicts recurrence in stage II colorectal cancer and enables a new risk stratification to guide postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy. Clinical risk stratification for postoperative recurrence in patients with pathological stage II (pStage II) colorectal cancer (CRC) is essential ...

Extrapolation and Application of Standard EN 13749 in Strength Analysis of Locomotive Axle-Box Body

open access: yes机车电传动, 2013
According to existing standards for axle-box test not covering check and analysis of axle-box body, application scope, force types, and load cases were compared among several test standards for bogie frames. It was revealed that standard EN 13749 had the

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Strength Properties of Concrete Including Waste Plastic Boxes

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
Iraq beside other countries generates tonnes of waste plastic boxes delivered from fruits and vegetable plastic boxes. In the construction sector, an alternative disposal is required for sustainable development of this material. The reducing of this plastic waste can be achieved by adding it in concrete as replacement of coarse aggregate.

Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.

Structure Optimization of Lower Gear Box of AC Variable Frequency Electric Top Drive System

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2017
The finite element calculation of the lower gear box has been carried out by using the APDL parameterized language, so as to check the strength and stiffness of the lower gear box under the specified design conditions.

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...

Jet launching from accretion discs in the local approximation

open access: yes, 2012
The acceleration of an outflow along inclined magnetic field lines emanating from an accretion disc can be studied in the local approximation, as employed in the computational model known as the shearing box.
