On the susceptibility of the box tree moth Cydalima perspectalis to Anagrapha falcifera nucleopolyhedrovirus (AnfaNPV)

Journal of Invertebrate Pathology, 2013
The box tree moth Cydalima perspectalis is an invasive insect pest in many European countries. Caterpillars of this species cause widespread damage on box tree plants. In this study, a new opportunity to control this pest with the baculovirus Anagrapha falcifera nucleopolyhedrovirus (AnfaNPV) was investigated.

An innovative and effective strategy for the biocontrol of the box tree moth

Acta Horticulturae, 2023
The SaveBuxus project aims to expand knowledge of the invasive Lepidopteran boxwood pest, Cydalima perspectalis, and to suggest innovative biocontrol methods that are environmentally and human health friendly. INRAE's Biocontrol Laboratory contributed to this project by researching beneficial's insects of the box tree moth.

Box tree moth mating behavior in the field and laboratory

2023
BTM mating behavior experiments were conducted in: i) semifield conditions and ii) in open field conditions. Fully developed larvae and pupas were collected in public areas and private gardens and were transferred into laboratory for development to adults (one pupae/plactis cup). 1-2 days old virgin females were used for experiments.

Evaluation of traps, pheromone lure dose, and female attractants for box tree moth detection.

2023
Objective of experiments was to conduct field trials in urban areas of Split – Dalmatia County in Croatia to evaluate which trap and lure combinations are most effective for detection and delimitation purposes. Lure evaluation study: Four different lure loading rates of the two component lure in a 5 to 1 ratio were evaluated with the goal will be to ...

Wing shape variability and flight performance of box tree moth Cydalima perspectalis

2022
Box tree moth (Cydalima perspectalis, Walker) is an invasive species present in Croatia since 2012 where causes great damage to plants of the genus Buxus. The pest spreads rapidly, has high reproductive potential and good adaptability. Its known natural dispersal velocity is up to10 km per year.

Evaluation of mating disruption for box tree moth area-wide control programs

2023
Abstract: We report the results from two years of field testing in 2021 and 2022 of an experimental mating disruption (MD) product for possible use in an operational control program to eradicate or slow the spread of BTM in the United States. The product was developed by TRECE* based on their CideTraktm meso-dispenser system, a solid rubberized plastic

A phenological model of the invasive box-tree moth Cydalima perspectalis

2018
Recently, the number of insect species that were accidentally introduced increased mainly due to international trade of ornamental plants which provide major pathways to insects. One example of this phenomenon is the box-tree moth, Cydalima perspectalis. This insect is an important threat for ornamental and natural box trees in Europe.
