A method of continuous brachial plexus block [PDF]

open access: yesThe American Journal of Surgery, 1946
Abstract Twenty-seven patients requiring operation of the shoulder, arm, wrist and hand had brachial plexus block by the continuous method. Anesthesia was successful in all cases and it was not necessary to supplement any with general anesthesia. The duration of operations extended from one and one-half hours to four hours twenty minutes.

Optimization of Inotropic Support in Victims with Polytrauma and Acute Heart Failure

open access: yesОбщая реаниматология, 2011
Objective: to evaluate the impact of ultrasound-guided nerve imaging on the efficiency and safety of supraclavicular brachial plexus block. Subjects and methods. Sixty-five patients underwent supraclavicular brachial plexus block. According to the method

Comparison of the onset time between 0.375% ropivacaine and 0.25% levobupivacaine for ultrasound-guided infraclavicular brachial plexus block: a randomized-controlled trial

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
At centers with pressure on rapid operating room turnover, onset time is one of the important considerations for choosing a local anesthetic drug. To hasten the onset of the block, higher concentrations of local anesthetics are sometimes used.

Anaesthetic Effects of Ropivacaine and Bupivacaine on Onset, Duration of Block and Changes in Hemodynamic Parameters in Patients Undergoing Below Elbow Surgeries Under Ultrasound Guided Supraclavicular Brachial Plexus Block

open access: yesJournal of Nepal Health Research Council, 2023
Background: Supraclavicular brachial plexus block is commonly used regional anesthetic technique for below elbow upper limb surgeries. Ultrasound and nerve stimulator are used for higher success rates and fewer complications.

Segmental composition and nerve distribution of the brachial plexus in Galictis cuja

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Galictis cuja is a neotropical mustelid with terrestrial locomotor habits, yet the anatomy of its brachial plexus has remained undescribed. This study characterizes the origin, organization, and distribution of the brachial plexus nerves in 15 adult specimens (30 antimeres).

Integrating yoga into anatomy and clinical medicine education: A holistic approach to learning

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Anatomical knowledge is fundamental for success in clinical settings. Unfortunately, anatomy education within professional health programs has experienced a continual decrease in contact hours and curricular content over the previous two decades, leading to deficits and potential gaps in anatomical science knowledge.

Unique Phrenic Nerve-Sparing Regional Anesthetic Technique for Pain Management after Shoulder Surgery

open access: yesCase Reports in Anesthesiology, 2017
Background. Ipsilateral phrenic nerve blockade is a common adverse event after an interscalene brachial plexus block, which can result in respiratory deterioration in patients with preexisting pulmonary conditions.

Supine‐Position Shoulder Arthroscopy Using the Anterior Portal as the Initial Approach

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract Traditional shoulder arthroscopy mostly adopts the beach chair position or lateral decubitus position. Beach chair position is associated with the risk of cerebral hypoperfusion due to the vertical distance between the carotid artery and the heart, whereas lateral decubitus may induce brachial plexus palsy caused by excessive traction.

Nalbuphine as an adjuvant to 0.5% bupivacaine for ultrasound-guided supraclavicular brachial plexus blockade

open access: yesIndian Journal of Pain, 2016
Background: Brachial plexus block is a reliable, regional anesthetic technique for upper arm surgeries. Opioid agonist-antagonists are also used as adjuvant to enhance the analgesia of bupivacaine.
