The Bradykinin B2-Receptor in Human Decidua

Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis, 1999
Bacterial infection of the amniotic cavity is one of the most frequent causes of preterm delivery. Bacterial products activate a network of autocrine and paracrine mediators in fetal membranes and decidua, with prostaglandins finally inducing contractions of the myometrium. Bradykinin and its B2-receptor (B2R) seem to be part of this network.

Bradykinin receptor types and B2 subtypes

Life Sciences, 1994
Bradykinin, desArg9BK, some agonist analogues and several antagonists have been tested in isolated organs in order to identify bradykinin B2 receptor subtypes. The initial pharmacological characterization was made in the rabbit jugular vein and the guinea pig ileum, two widely used B2 preparations which have shown marked differences in their ...

Activation of B2 bradykinin receptors by neurotensin

Cellular Signalling, 2003
Many previous reports suggested that relatively high concentrations of neurotensin were required to exert its effects on neurotransmitter secretion. The neurotensin binding sites, which recognize high concentrations of neurotensin, were characterized in rat pheochromocytoma (PC12) cells. When PC12 cells were treated with neurotensin, [3H]norepinephrine

Bradykinin receptors in isolated rat duodenum

Peptides, 1990
Pharmacological properties of the bradykinin receptors in the isolated rat duodenum were investigated by examining the relaxant and contractile responses to bradykinin and [des-Arg9]-bradykinin, an agonist of B1 receptors. A specific desensitization and de novo formation for B1 receptors were observed.

Bradykinin receptor ligands: therapeutic perspectives

Nature Reviews Drug Discovery, 2004
Kinins, which are produced by the action of kallikrein enzymes, are blood-derived local-acting peptides that have broad effects mediated by two related G-protein-coupled receptors termed the bradykinin receptors. The endogenous kallikrein-kinin system controls blood circulation and kidney function, and promotes inflammation and pain in pathological ...

Expression and function of bradykinin receptors in microglia

Life Sciences, 2003
Expression of bradykinin (BK) receptors and their cellular function were investigated in microglia. Microglial cells were isolated from mixed cultures of cerebrocortical cells from postnatal day 3 Wistar rats. Reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR) showed that rat primary microglia express mRNAs for the type 2 bradykinin (B(2)) receptor subtype but not the

Intracellular and nuclear bradykinin B2 receptors

European Journal of Pharmacology, 2014
Bradykinin is a vasoactive peptide that participates in numerous inflammatory processes, vasodilation, and cell growth/survival; it mainly acts through two receptor subtypes, bradykinin B1 and bradykinin B2 receptors, which are G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) family members.

Characterization of bradykinin receptors in peripheral organs

Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, 1991
Bradykinin (BK) and related kinins are potent stimulants of the rabbit jugular vein, the hamster urinary bladder, and the guinea pig trachea. The characterization of kinin receptors in these tissues was made with agonists and antagonists. Results obtained with agonists indicate that bradykinin and kallidin are much more active than des-Arg9-BK and ...

From Bradykinin B2 Receptor Antagonists to Orally Active and Selective Bradykinin B1 Receptor Antagonists

Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2012
The bradykinin (BK) B1 receptor is an attractive target for the treatment of chronic pain and inflammation. Starting from a dual B1 and B2 antagonist, novel antagonists were designed that display low-nanomolar affinity for human B1 receptor and selectivity over B2.
