Curcumin attenuates brain edema in mice with intracerebral hemorrhage through inhibition of AQP4 and AQP9 expression

open access: yesActa Pharmacologica Sinica, 2015
Aim:Aquaporins (AQPs) are the water-channels that play important roles in brain water homeostasis and in cerebral edema induced by brain injury. In this study we investigated the relationship between AQPs and a neuroprotective agent curcumin that was ...

Long‐Term Effects of Xenotransplantation of Human Enteric Glia in an Immunocompetent Rat Model of Acute Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Acute brain injuries are characterized by extensive tissue damage, resulting in debilitating deficits in patients. Despite considerable progress, cell‐based approaches have yet to identify an ideal candidate. This long‐term study explores the use of an untested cell source – human enteric glia – and a non‐invasive administration route – intranasal ...

TRIM56 Aggravates Cerebral Ischemia‐Reperfusion Injury via Inhibiting KLF4‐Activated Ferroptosis Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the E3 ubiquitin ligase TRIM56 exacerbates neuronal ferroptosis and brain damage by mediating K48‐linked ubiquitination and degradation of KLF4, leading to suppression of the xCT/GSH/GPX4 axis. Targeting TRIM56 alleviates cerebral ischemia‐reperfusion injury in vivo and in vitro, highlighting its therapeutic potential.

Peritumoral edema at brain meningiomas

open access: yesActa Biomedica Scientifica, 2016
Among edema-producing neoplasms of central neural system, the meningiomas are unique. Meningiomas are histologically benign, slow growing and originate extracerebrally.

Blockage of transient receptor potential vanilloid 4 inhibits brain edema in middle cerebral artery occlusion mice

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2015
Brain edema is an important pathological process during stroke. Activation of transient receptor potential vanilloid 4 (TRPV4) causes an up-regulation of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in lung tissue.

Potent and Long‐Lasting Immunogenicity Generated by LNP‐mRNA gE Antigen Against Varicella Zoster Virus via an AI‐Assisted Pipeline

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study designs a novel mRNA‐LNP vaccine targeting VZV glycoprotein E (gE) for herpes zoster via an AI‐assisted pipeline. Validated in mice and rhesus macaques, the mRNA‐LNP vaccine shows strong humoral and cellular immune responses, with CD4+ T‐cell responses more effective and durable than Shingrix, offering a promising prophylactic option ...

A Dual Parameter Synchronous Monitoring System of Brain Edema Based on the Reflection and Transmission Characteristics of Two-Port Test Network

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
As a common secondary disease, edema after traumatic brain injury (TBI) can increase brain volume, resulting in elevated intracranial pressure (ICP), brain shift, and cerebral hernia, and can eventually lead to death.

Worsening of cerebral hyperemia by the administration of terlipressin in acute liver failure with severe hepatic encephalopathy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
There is increasing evidence that terlipressin is useful in patients with cirrhosis and hepatorenal syndrome, but there are no data of its use in patients with acute liver failure (ALF) in whom hepatorenal syndrome is common.

Rigid Hollow Microparticles for Enhanced Focused Ultrasound Treatment Under Optoacoustic Guidance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By combining focused ultrasound (FUS) and acoustically active hollow borosilicate microparticles (HBMPs), we demonstrate tunable control over interparticle dynamics and their localized thermal energy deposition. Modulation of acoustic frequency and particle concentration tailors the energy delivery, allowing adaptive, material‐based regulation of ...

Effect of fenofibrate on brain infarction, brain swelling and edema in focal-transient cerebral ischemia in rat

open access: yesمجله علمی دانشگاه علوم پزشکی کردستان, 2021
Background and Aim: Increasing evidence has demonstrated that activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα), which belongs to the nuclear receptor family of ligand-activated transcription factors, after cerebral ischemia exhibit ...
