Brake wear warning device: A concept [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Heat-insulated wire is introduced through brake shoe and partially into brake lining. Wire is connected to positive terminal and light bulb. When brakes wear to critical point, contact between wire and wheel drum grounds circuit and turns on warning ...

A Smart Bio‐Battery Facilitates Diabetic Bone Defect Repair Via Inducing Macrophage Reprogramming and Synergistically Modulating Bone Remodeling Coupling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This research presents a novel implantable bio‐battery, GF‐OsG, tailored for diabetic bone repair. GF‐OsG generates microcurrents in high‐glucose conditions to enhance vascularization, shift macrophages to the M2 phenotype, and regulate immune responses.

Membrane Vesicles from Lacticaseibacillus Casei BL23 Exhibit Antimicrobial Activity Against Escherichia coli and Immunostimulatory Effects on Human Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Membrane vesicles derived from the probiotic Lacticaseibacillus casei BL23 demonstrate antimicrobial properties against Escherichia coli and a potential biological effect in improving the overall survival of C. elegans infected with Pseudomonas aeruginosa. These vesicles stimulated immune responses in primary cells without causing toxicity. Our results

Brake subharmonic solutions of first order Hamiltonian systems

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper, we mainly use the Galerkin approximation method and the iteration inequalities of the $L$-Maslov type index theory to study the properties of brake subharmonic solutions for the first order non-autonomous Hamiltonian systems. We prove that

Decellularized Extracellular Matrix Scaffolds to Engineer the Dormant Landscape of Microscopic Colorectal Cancer Liver Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Decellularized liver extracellular matrix scaffolds provide a platform to study dormant liver‐metastatic colorectal cancer. They induce reversible dormancy, in combination with nutrient depletion and low dose chemotherapy, through cell cycle arrest and chemotherapy resistance.
