Steering drift and wheel movement during braking: static and dynamic measurements [PDF]
YesThis paper reports on an experimental investigation into braking-related steering drift in motor vehicles, and follows on from a previous paper by the authors in which it was concluded that braking can cause changes in wheel alignment that in turn ...

The braking index of millisecond magnetars [PDF]
We make the first measurement of the braking index $n$ of two putative millisecond magnetars born in short gamma-ray bursts. We measure $n=2.9\pm0.1$ and $n=2.6\pm0.1$ for millisecond magnetars born in GRB 130603B and GRB 140903A respectively.

Analysis of braking parameters in testing of brake wear and particles formation on inertial brake dynamometer [PDF]
In parallel with the significant reduction of the impact of vehicles on the environment, the development of modern propulsion systems that have less and less harmful impact, new pollutants are being identified on the vehicle.

Study of stress-strain state of wheelset of freight car during braking [PDF]
Аs a result of the study, a three-dimensional finite element model of a wheelset with rail sections is developed using a finite element of the ten-node tetrahedron type, and the maximum tangent stresses and maximum equivalent stresses are determined ...

An Improved Optimal Slip Ratio Prediction considering Tyre Inflation Pressure Changes [PDF]
The prediction of optimal slip ratio is crucial to vehicle control systems. Many studies have verified there is a definitive impact of tyre pressure change on the optimal slip ratio.

Evaluation of a sudden brake warning system: Effect on the response time of the following driver [PDF]
This study used a video-based braking simulation dual task to carry out a preliminary evaluation of the effect of a sudden brake warning system (SBWS) in a leading passenger vehicle on the response time of the following driver.

The encoding of salient events as memory traces involves the selective activation of specific neurons in the hippocampus and the inhibition of others, a process shown here to be regulated by GABAergic input from the nucleus incertus in the brainstem.

Characterization of surface morphology and its correlation with friction performance of brake pads [PDF]
The present work presents the morphology evolution of a brake material surface submitted to braking tests through a laboratory-scale tribometer. Optical microscope images of the material’s surface were obtained for every 10 braking operations.
