Vehicle Brake Performance Evaluation
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1970<div class="htmlview paragraph">An effort was made to evaluate accurately truck air brake performance balance at low application pressures by means of comparing drum temperatures. This procedure produced excellent results, and is a fast, practical method for evaluating brake performance of combination vehicles. The drum, hub, and wheel assemblies

Methods for Sizing Brake Pads for High Performance Brakes
SAE International Journal of Materials and Manufacturing, 2015<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">An aspect of high performance brake design that has remained strikingly empirical is that of determining the correct sizing of the brake pad - in terms of both area and volume - to match well with a high performance vehicle application.

Anti-Lock Braking Performance and Hydraulic Brake Pressure Estimation
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2005<div class="htmlview paragraph">Anti-Lock Brake Systems use hydraulic valves to control brake pressure and ultimately, wheel slip. The difference in pressure across these hydraulic valves affects their performance. The control of these valves can be improved if the pressure difference is known and the valve control altered accordingly.

Braking performance of aircraft tires
Progress in Aerospace Sciences, 1986Abstract This paper brings under one cover the subject of aircraft braking performance and a variety of related phenomena that lead to aircraft hydroplaning, overruns, and loss of directional control. Complex processes involving tire deformation, tire slipping, and fluid pressures in the tire-runway contact area develop the friction forces for ...

THE EFFECT OF BRAKE DISC TEMPERATURE ON BRAKING PERFORMANCE
2014In this experimental work, effect of increasing in brake disc temperature on braking performance was investigated. For this purpose, braking distance tests which the criteria of braking performance were carried out. The tests were conducted on a small-size commercial vehicle for different disc temperatures, pedal forces, the vehicle loads and for ...
