Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

A Formalism for Scattering of Complex Composite Structures: I Applications to Branched Structures of Asymmetric Sub-Units [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present a formalism for the scattering of an arbitrary linear or acyclic branched structure build by joining mutually non-interacting arbitrary functional sub-units.

Structural basis of K11/K48-branched ubiquitin chain recognition by the human 26S proteasome

open access: yesNature Communications
Beyond the canonical K48-linked homotypic polyubiquitination for proteasome-targeted proteolysis, K11/K48-branched ubiquitin (Ub) chains are involved in fast-tracking protein turnover during cell cycle progression and proteotoxic stress.

Statistical polymer method: Modeling of macromolecules and aggregates with branching and crosslinking, formed in random processes

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 1998
The statistical polymer method is based on the consideration of averaged structures of all possible macromolecules of the same weight. One has derived equations allowing evaluation of all additive parameters of macromolecules and their systems.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Transport-generated signals uncover geometric features of evolving branched structures

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
Branched structures that evolve over time critically shape the function of diverse natural and engineered systems, from neuronal dendrites and vascular networks to pulmonary and root architectures.

Some properties of approximants for branched continued fractions of the special form with positive and alternating-sign partial numerators

open access: yesKarpatsʹkì Matematičnì Publìkacìï, 2018
The paper deals with research of convergence for one of the generalizations of continued fractions -- branched continued fractions of the special form with two branches.

Branched Covers, Open Books and Contact Structures

open access: yes, 2020
In this thesis we study the relationship between branched covers, open book decompositions and contact structures in dimension three. The main result shown is the one to one correspondence between contact structures and open book decompositions up to ...

Control Over the Branched Structures of Platinum Nanocrystals for Electrocatalytic Applications

open access: yes, 2016
Structural control of branched nanocrystals allows tuning two parameters that are critical to their catalytic activitythe surface-to-volume ratio, and the number of atomic steps, ledges, and kinks on surface.

A numerical investigation into the plastic buckling paradox for circular cylindrical shells under axial compression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
It is widely accepted that for many buckling problems of plates and shells in the plastic range the flow theory of plasticity leads to a significant overestimation of the buckling stress while the deformation theory provides much more accurate ...
