Flat branches and pressure amorphization
After summarizing the phenomenology of pressure amorphization (PA), we present a theory of PA based on the notion that one or more branches of the phonon spectrum soften and flatten with increasing pressure.

Multicriterial ranking approach for evaluating bank branch performance [PDF]
14 ranking methods based on multiple criteria are suggested for evaluating the performance of the bank branches. The methods are explained via an illustrative example, and some of them are applied to a real-life data for 23 retail bank branches in a ...

Novel Branches of (0,2) Theories
We show that recently proposed linear sigma models with torsion can be obtained from unconventional branches of conventional gauge theories. This observation puts models with log interactions on firm footing.

Evolutionary Branching in a Finite Population: Deterministic Branching vs. Stochastic Branching [PDF]
Abstract Adaptive dynamics formalism demonstrates that, in a constant environment, a continuous trait may first converge to a singular point followed by spontaneous transition from a unimodal trait distribution into a bimodal one, which is called “evolutionary branching.” Most previous analyses of evolutionary branching have been ...

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...
