Applications on branching processes

open access: yes, 2021
Branching processes are stochastic processes with main difference among other stochastic processes that the systems that they can model have a special construction: a single individual lives for a unit of time and by its death produces \u1d45b ...

Probabilistic study of a dynamical system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
This paper investigates the relation between a branching process and a non-linear dynamical system in C2. This idea has previously been fruitful in many investigations, including that of the FKPP equation by McKean, Neveu, Bramson, and others.

Longtime behavior of a branching process controlled by branching catalysts [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The model under consideration is a catalytic branching model constructed in [DF96], where the catalysts themselves suffer a spatial branching mechanism. Main attention is paid to dimension d=3. The key result is a convergence theorem towards a limit with

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

A Long Range Dependence Stable Process and an Infinite Variance Branching System [PDF]

open access: yes
We prove a functional limit theorem for the rescaled occupation time fluctuations of a (d, , )- branching particle system (particles moving in Rd according to a symmetric -stable L´evy process, branching law in the domain of attraction of a (1 + )-stable

On the Critical Parameters of Branching Random Walks

open access: yesMathematics
Given a discrete spatial structure X, we define continuous-time branching processes {ηt}t≥0 that model a population breeding and dying on X. These processes are usually called branching random walks, and ηt(x) denotes the number of individuals alive at ...

Convergence Rates and Limit Theorems for the Dual Markov Branching Process

open access: yesJournal of Probability and Statistics, 2017
This paper studies aspects of the Siegmund dual of the Markov branching process. The principal results are optimal convergence rates of its transition function and limit theorems in the case that it is not positive recurrent.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.
