KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

A pharmacophore‐based classification better predicts the outcomes of HER2‐negative breast cancer patients receiving the anthracycline‐ and/or taxane‐based neoadjuvant chemotherapy

open access: yesCancer Medicine, 2021
Aims Prognosis of patients for human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)‐negative breast cancer post neoadjuvant chemotherapy is not well understood.

Adaptor protein CIN85 potentiates the motility of osteosarcoma cells via the Akt/mTOR and MMP2‐COL3A1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CIN85 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma, particularly in metastatic lesions. Its overexpression increases cell migration and Matrigel invasion, while silencing CIN85 suppresses these behaviors. Transcriptome analysis shows that CIN85 regulates MMP2, COL3A1, and Akt/mTOR signaling. Targeting these pathways reverses CIN85‐induced motility, highlighting

Technological advances in cancer immunity: from immunogenomics to single-cell analysis and artificial intelligence

open access: yesSignal Transduction and Targeted Therapy, 2021
Immunotherapies play critical roles in cancer treatment. However, given that only a few patients respond to immune checkpoint blockades and other immunotherapeutic strategies, more novel technologies are needed to decipher the complicated interplay ...

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Tumor-specific MHC-II guides anthracycline exemption and immunotherapy benefit in breast cancer

open access: yesBiomarker Research
Background Anthracycline-based chemotherapy, while foundational in breast cancer treatment, confers substantial cardiotoxicity. Identifying biomarkers to guide anthracycline exemption without compromising efficacy has remained an unresolved clinical ...

Moonshots and metastatic disease: the need for a multi-faceted approach when studying atypical responses

open access: yesnpj Breast Cancer, 2017
Clinical research generally focuses on results involving a statistical mean with little attention in trial design to patients who respond considerably better or worse than average.
