Metformin Reshapes the Methylation Profile in Breast and Colorectal Cancer Cells
With no sharp cure, breast cancer still be the major and the most serious life-threatening disease worldwide. Colorectal is the third most commonly occurring cancer in men and the second most commonly occurring cancer in women. In the present investigation, colon cancer cells (CaCo-2) and breast cancer cells (MCF-7) were treated with elevated doses of ...

Mammographic breast density refines Tyrer-Cuzick estimates of breast cancer risk in high-risk women: findings from the placebo arm of the International Breast Cancer Intervention Study I [PDF]
Introduction: Mammographic density is well-established as a risk factor for breast cancer, however, adjustment for age and body mass index (BMI) is vital to its clinical interpretation when assessing individual risk.

SLC8A1 deficiency in colorectal cancer cells increases intracellular calcium signaling, promoting the secretion of ANXA2‐enriched small extracellular vesicles. These vesicles reprogram tumor‐associated macrophages towards an M2 phenotype, which in turn fosters a tumor microenvironment conducive to radioresistance and is associated with poor patient ...

A temperature‐sensitive hydrogel loaded with cyanine nanozymes and Escherichia coli is locally injected into postoperative tumor resection beds. Upon light irradiation, synergistic PTT and PDT work with cascaded reactive oxygen species to deplete extracellular GSH, eliminate residual tumor cells, and induce robust antitumor immune responses for ...

ABSTRACT Platinum‐based chemotherapy resistance remains a major obstacle in gastric cancer (GC) treatment. Through integrated transcriptomic profiling of cisplatin‐resistant xenografts and pharmacogenomic interrogation of the NCI‐60 dataset, we identified Prohibitin‐2 (PHB2) as a previously unrecognized determinant of chemoresistance.

Advances in Breast Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment in Africa
Breast cancer remains a significant cause of cancer-related mortality in Africa, where late-stage diagnosis, limited access to specialised care, and underrepresentation in biomedical research continue to impede improvements in patient outcomes.

In this study, we identify a novel functional role of ZBTB18 in regulating trigeminal‐mediated neuropathic pain. Nerve injury reduces ZBTB18 in trigeminal ganglion neurons, impairing CHD4/NuRD recruitment and de‐repressing Clic1. Elevated CLIC1 enhances chloride channel activity and neuronal hyperexcitability, thereby driving pain.
