Informed recruitment or the importance of taking stock [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
One important decision, especially for long-lived species, is where and when to start reproduction, i.e. where and when to recruit. For an informed decision on recruitment, individuals may prospect potential breeding sites and gather information on the future breeding site, hence reducing uncertainty.

Introduction of novel legume crops in Serbia: White lupin (Lupinus albus) [PDF]

open access: yesRatarstvo i Povrtarstvo, 2010
The renewed interest in introducing white lupin in Serbia is its high crude protein content in grain dry matter of nearly 400 g kg-1, which makes it a potential supplement for soybean meal in animal feeding.

Expression and purification of E140 protein antigen fragments of Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium berghei for serological assays

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We provide a step‐by‐step guide for producing E140 antigen fragments from Plasmodium berghei (Pb1) and Plasmodium vivax (Pv1). Pb1/Pv1 are expressed in E. coli, solubilized by freeze–thawing, refolded by slow dilution, purified by affinity chromatography (IMAC), then concentrated and subjected to quality control.

Potential of the ESA23B maize population for protein and oil content improvement

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2003
Among the traits that may add commercial value to maize (Zea mays L.), those related to nutritional quality, specially protein and oil content, are of great interest to the feed industry. The objective of this work was studying the variability of protein

An enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)‐based activity assay for AMP‐activated protein kinase (AMPK)

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Measuring AMP‐activated protein kinase (AMPK) activity in vitro is crucial for testing AMPK activators or inhibitors with therapeutic potential. Here, we report an enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)‐based AMPK activity assay with simple steps and high sensitivity, which offers a simple, robust, and cost‐effective alternative to traditional ...
