Dynamic Analysis of Brush-Seal Bristles Using an Incremental Corotational Beam and a Stick–Slip Friction Model

open access: yesLubricants
The dynamic behavior of brush-seal bristles governs seal performance and life. Brush-seal hysteresis and the contact and friction of the bristles have been studied extensively by experiments, by three-dimensional finite-element analysis, and more ...

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Nutritive value and production of yellow bristle grass in Waikato dairy pastures: validating a Farmax model

open access: yes, 2019
Yellow bristle grass is a C4 summeractive annual weed prevalent in the upper North Island Its production and nutritive value was assessed onfarm to validate the assumptions used in a published Farmax model on the impact of yellow bristle grass The ...

The action of mitomycin C on the bristle-forming apparatus ofPhormia regina.

open access: yes, 1976
Mitomycin C, a known inhibitor of DNA synthesis, was injected into white prepupae ofPhormia regina, Adults which developed from these prepupae showed alterations of the bristle pattern, loss of whole bristle organs, and the formation of bristles without ...

Spatial and single‐nuclei transcriptomics reveals idiosyncratic and generic patterns in papillary and anaplastic thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Matched spatial transcriptomics and single‐nuclei RNA‐seq were generated for anaplastic and BRAFV600E papillary thyroid cancers revealing generic and tumor‐specific states occurring in cancer cells and in the tumor microenvironment. In this context, cancer dedifferentiation mirrored organoid maturation through ordered thyroid marker gain/loss ...

CFD numerical simulation, verification with experimental results and internal flow analysis of bristle turbines

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
In industrial facilities, a considerable amount of waste heat is often generated. However, due to the high costs associated with traditional methods of recovery, which do not align with the economic interests of enterprises, this waste heat is frequently

Inhibition of cyclin‐dependent kinases 12/13 using CT7439 as a treatment for colorectal cancer with CDK12 upregulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The proposed mechanism of action for the CDK12/13 inhibitor and cyclin K degrader, CT7439. CDK12/13 inhibition interrupts transcription elongation, leading to increased DNA damage that results in cell death. This agent is a potentially novel treatment option for patients with colorectal cancer. Created in BioRender. Cyclin‐dependent kinase (CDK) 12 and

The Genetic Architecture of Drosophila Sensory Bristle Number

open access: yes, 2002
Quantitative traits vary continuously in populations due to the segregation of multiple loci (QTL, or quantitative trait loci) and sensitivity to environmental variation.

Advanced Computational Investigation of Brush Seal Thermo-Fluid–Mechanical Performance Through Novel Porous Media Coefficient Derivation

open access: yesComputation
Brush seals represent the most effective sealing technology, offering 5 to 10 times lower leakage flow rates, resulting in an 80% to 90% increase in sealing efficiency.

Preoperative circulating tumor cells integrated with imaging analysis for prognostic evaluation in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detecting circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in blood before surgery may help predict outcomes in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Here, we show when combined with tumor size and lymph node involvement from routine imaging, CTC status identifies high‐risk patients with poorer survival—offering a simple, minimally invasive tool ...
