Meal Feeding and Broiler Performance
Abstract Male broiler chickens were meal fed using 3.5 hr on:4.5 hr off, 3 cycles/24 hr and in combination with 2 hr on:2 hr off, 6 cycles/24 hr; comparison was made to ad libitum feeding, all with continuous light. Trials were conducted at optimum (21 C) grow-out temperature and at hot (22 to 33 C) grow-out temperatures.

Effects of incubation temperature pattern on broiler performance
During incubation, development of embryos is affected by eggshell temperature (EST). A constant EST of 37.8°C has been considered so far to result in most optimal embryo development. However, it can be hypothesized that a higher EST in week 2 in combination with a lower EST in week 3 stimulates embryo development and subsequent grow-out performance. In

Significance of chick quality score in broiler production
The quality of day old chicks is crucial for profitable broiler production, but a difficult trait to define. In research, both qualitative and quantitative measures are used with variable predictive value for subsequent performance. In hatchery practice,

Modeling the performance of broilers under heat stress
A meta-analysis was developed to model performance depression in heat stress (HS), to analyze the influence of HS type (cyclic or constant), and to assess the correlation between dietary electrolyte balance (DEB) and HS in broilers. Two databases (Dat) with performance and temperature were constructed (initial phase - up to 21 d of age - 14 articles, 7,

Cardiac morphological and morphometric analysis of Ardea alba
Abstract Ardea alba (Linnaeus, 1758) is a widely distributed heron species whose cardiovascular morphology remains poorly described. This study aimed to characterize the cardiac morphology and morphometry of adult A. alba. Ten specimens were analyzed using radiographic, morphometric, histological, scanning electron microscopy, and three‐dimensional ...

Effect of Dietary Beta-Glucan on the Performance of Broilers and the Quality of Broiler Breast Meat [PDF]
A total of 400, one day-old commercial broiler chicks were divided into five diet groups (negative control, positive control group with 55 ppm Zn-bacitracin, 15 ppm β-glucan, 30 ppm β-glucan, and 60 ppm β-glucan) and fed for six weeks. Ten broilers were allotted to each of 40 floor pens.

Dietary RSO supplementation improved growth performance, simultaneously enriched n‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n‐3 PUFA), and enhanced antioxidant capacity in Pekin ducks, which suggested that RSO has the potential to be a novel n‐3 PUFA source and an antioxidant for Pekin ducks to generate animal functional foods.

Activo Liquid and Halquinol inhibit Salmonella and Escherichia coli in culture media. Activo Liquid exhibits bactericidal action, whereas HA is bacteriostatic, and their combination results in positive or indifferent interactions. This combination effectively inhibits E. coli throughout digestion simulation, thus reducing the required concentrations of

The Effects of Santoquin on the Performance of Broilers
Abstract THE use of antioxidants in broiler feeds, in an effort to improve xanthophyll utilization, has produced conflicting results. Wilgus (1954), Potter et al. (1956) and Fritz et al. (1957) reported that the addition of DPPD (diphenyl-p-phenylenediamine) to the feed resulted in an increased deposition of yellow pigment in the skin and shanks of ...

Woody breast compromises meat quality leading to reduced consumer appeal. Although its causes are unclear, improvements observed with certain dietary supplements suggest that gut health may influence woody breast development. Ribonucleotide reductase subunit RRM2 is vital for mitochondrial function and gastrointestinal integrity, and alteration in its ...
