The effect of lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 deficiency on pulmonary allergic responses in Aspergillus fumigatus sensitized mice. [PDF]
BackgroundLipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2)/platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase (PAF-AH) has been implicated in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease.

This study aims to evaluate the impact of the potassium channel KCNJ2 on asthma development. KCNJ2 promotes NLRP3 inflammasome activation through both Ca2+ influx and K+ efflux in airway epithelial cells, which drives allergic airway inflammation and remodeling, suggesting a promising therapeutic target for asthma.

To investigate effects of endotoxin on allergic airway diseases, we studied bronchial responsiveness to histamine (HI) and substance P (SP) in actively sensitized and non-sensitized guinea pigs 24 h after exposure to endotoxin (75 (μg/mL; 40 min) and its

Cer24:1 levels are reduced in neutrophilic asthma and inversely correlate with disease severity and airway neutrophilia. Restoring Cer24:1 suppresses pathogenic Th17 differentiation by engaging EP2 on CD4+ T cells, thereby dampening the JAK2–STAT3–RORγt axis and reducing IL‐17 production.

Geriatric asthmatics exhibit more comorbidities, poorer lung function, higher neutrophil ratios, and elevated CRP levels. ABSTRACT Objective The research analyzed the clinical characteristics of geriatric and nongeriatric asthma cases, aiming to provide new insights into the diagnosis and management of geriatric asthma for clinicians.

Clinical effects of spa therapy were examined in 60 elderly asthmatics in comparison between ex-smokers with a long history of cigarette smoking more than 20 years and never-smokers. Spa therapy wse effective in 47 of the 60 subjects (78.4%) with asthma.
