Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Severe Sporadic Primary Hyperparathyroidism Masquerading as Hyperparathyroidism Jaw Tumor Syndrome

open access: yesClinical Case Reports
Jaw lesions are rare in Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) and often mimic odontogenic tumors or syndromic conditions such as hyperparathyroidism Jaw Tumor (HPT‐JT) syndrome.

Evaluation of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Transarterial Chemoembolization using Quantitative Analysis of 2D and 3D Real-time Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Quantitative 2D and 3D contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) was assessed to evaluate early transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) treatment response. Seventeen patients scheduled for TACE for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma participated in the ...

Immunotherapy in hepatocellular carcinoma: the complex interface between inflammation, fibrosis, and the immune response. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the third leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide and confers a poor prognosis. Beyond standard systemic therapy with multikinase inhibitors, recent studies demonstrate the potential for robust and durable responses ...

Overview of molecular signatures of senescence and associated resources: pros and cons

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cells can enter a stress response state termed cellular senescence that is involved in various diseases and aging. Detecting these cells is challenging due to the lack of universal biomarkers. This review presents the current state of senescence identification, from biomarkers to molecular signatures, compares tools and approaches, and highlights ...

Brown Tumor in Jaw Associated with Hyperparathyroidism: A Case Report

open access: yesOral
Background/Objectives: Brown tumors are bone manifestations of hyperparathyroidism, and they are characterized by histologic similarities with Central Giant Cell Granuloma (CGCG). Their diagnosis requires clinical, microscopic, macroscopic, and serologic

Erythropoietin modulates hepatic inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and soluble epoxide hydrolase and epoxides in high‐fat diet‐induced obese mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...

An unusual case report: normocalcemic markers and their relationship with multiple sclerosis in primary hyperparathyroidism disease revealed by radiological markers with the diagnosis of brown tumor

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, 2022
Background Brown tumor is a giant cell focal bone lesion associated with hyperparathyroidism and is more common in long bones such as the femur, ribs, pelvis, and clavicle, rather than in the head and neck region.
