Anthelmintic Agents from African Medicinal Plants: Review and Prospects
Soil‐transmitted helminthiasis affects more than 1.5 billion people globally and largely remains a sanitary problem in Africa. These infections place a huge economic burden on poor countries and affect livestock production, causing substantial economic losses and poor animal health. The emergence of anthelmintic resistance, especially in livestock, and

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), a global disease threatening human health, is commonly accompanied by secondary liver damage (SLD) mediated by the gut‐liver axis. Oxidative stress acts a critical role in the onset of IBD, during which excessive oxidation would destroy the tight junctions between intestinal cells, promote proinflammatory factors to ...

Brucea javanica oil (BJO) is beneficial for the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC), and that quassinoids in particular brusatol are bioactive components. However, it is still uncertain whether or not other components in BJO, such as oleic acid and fatty acids, have an anti‐UC effect. The present study is aimed at comparing the anti‐UC effects between

Molecular docking studies of Brucein D as a potential inhibitor of the Bcl-2 anti-apoptotic protein
Link of Video Abstract: https://youtu.be/JOzTSty10v4Background: Brucein D (BrD), a quassinoid isolated from Brucea javanica fruit, reportedly demonstrates anti-tumor activity. Bcl-2 is an anti-apoptotic protein that inhibits apoptosis and leads to cancer progression.

Anti-babesial Quassinoids from the Fruits of
The medicinal plant Brucea javanica (L.) Merr. (Simaroubaceae), grown in China, was examined for anti-babesial properties. The anti-babesial activity of the fruit was found to be attributed to its quassinoid constituents.

A study on the mechanism of bruceine D in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer H1299 cells
Background: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is considered one of the leading causes of cancer-related death. Despite the availability of drugs for the treatment of NSCLC, the need for the development of novel agents with high efficiency and fewer adverse effects remains unmet. The natural compound bruceine D (BD) is widely recognized for its notable

The fruit of Brucea javanica L. is a common herb used in Chinese medicine for the treatment of a variety of cancers. Our research group has previously identified bruceine D (BD), a quassinoid found abundantly in B. javanica, to have potent cytotoxic effect on a number of pancreatic cancer cell lines, including Panc-1, SW1990 and Capan-1 cells.

Inflammation has been recognized as a component of cancer progression, and inflammasome receptor components also regulate various biological processes, including cell proliferation, gene transcription, and tumorigenesis. Accumulating evidence indicates that the AIM2 inflammasome influences tumor progression via multiple concurrent mechanisms, one of ...

Schematic of AIE780‐SG NPs for NIR FLI‐Guided Photo‐Enhanced Chemotherapy in Drug‐Resistant TNBC. AIE780‐SG (hRS7‐modified) targets TROP2 on TNBC cells to facilitate mitochondrial internalization. NIR illumination induces MICA/B release, recruiting and activating NK cells via MICA/B‐NKG2D and hRS7‐CD16 interactions, and enhancing secretion of cytotoxic
