This paper proposes an EXP‐PI controller as a practical alternative to the conventional PI controller, integrating EXP functions on the error and its rate within the control structure. The controller is optimized using five recent intelligent algorithms, with SFS providing the most effective parameter tuning.

Transfer Function Model of a Brushless Exciter
Brushless exciters are widely used in power stations to furnish the excitation current for the main alternators. These exciters are maintenance free and possess high gain and forcing margin. Transfer function models available for such exciters are somewhat complicated and deal with few variables.

Open‐circuit faults in rotating diode rectifiers (RDRs) disrupt excitation current in WFSSG systems. A modified rotor current vector modulus (CVM) with harmonic distortion analysis enables accurate fault detection even at standstill, without rotor position sensors.

A Lumped Parameter Thermal Model for Double Stator Wound‐Excited Magnetic Field Modulation Machine
This paper proposes a lumped parameter thermal model (LPTM) for the DS‐WMFM machine. A detailed method for calculating and constructing the LPTM for the DS‐WMFM machine is given in this paper. To validate the prediction accuracy of the established LPTM, three experimental tests including DC test, rated condition test, and variable condition test are ...

ABSTRACT High‐phase electronic pole‐changing induction machines (ePCIMs) offer inherent redundancy and extended torque‐speed capability, making them suitable for high‐power traction applications such as electric buses and heavy‐duty electric vehicles. However, pole‐changing transitions produce severe transient currents that degrade dynamic performance ...

Novel Winding Design and Analysis of Brushless Wound Rotor Synchronous Machines
Synchronous machines are electric machines characterised by a rotating speed proportional to the AC supply and are independent of load. Traditional permanent magnet synchronous machines utilise rare earth minerals for rotor flux generation, posing ...

This paper investigates the application of Finite Control Set Model Predictive Control (FCS‐MPC) for Brushless DC (BLDC) motor speed regulation under dynamic references, including sinusoidal, square, triangular, and sawtooth signals. A novel cost function is introduced to evaluate switching frequency effects, and the influence of different weighting ...
