Permanent-magnet motors for brushless operation
IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1990The design considerations for permanent-magnet motors intended for brushless operation are discussed. Two rotor configurations are described: the imbricated rotor and the segmented rotor. The segmented rotor is designed specially for high-speed operation.

2009 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2009
In this paper, electromagnetic vibration of interior permanent magnet (IPM) brushless motors under BLDC and BLAC operation mode is investigated. The electromagnetic field is calculated by 2D finite element analysis (FEA). The radial and tangential force distribution on the stator is also derived, and input to the structure transient finite element ...

Operating limits and practical operation of a brushless doubly-fed reluctance machine
2017 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2017In this paper a prototype brushless doubly-fed reluctance machine is investigated which is aimed a meeting commercial machine performance figures. The machine has 4 and 8 pole 3-phase stator windings and a 6 pole radially-laminated ducted rotor. The machine is investigated using finite element analysis (FEA), static torque tests with DC current ...

Operating charts for the Brushless Doubly-Fed Machine (BDFM)
2009 IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference, 2009The Brushless Doubly-Fed Machine (BDFM) is an electrical machine that allows brushless operation in many applications where the Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) is currently used. In recent years work on BDFM control means that the machine can now be run stably across its working range. However, little work has been done to define the working area

Starting mode of three-stage brushless generator operation
2018 17th International Ural Conference on AC Electric Drives (ACED), 2018Recent years the design of electrical equipment in aircraft in the part of electrical systems inclines to combining the functions of a starter system for generating electrical energy in one unit which was named the starter-generator. This solution allows improving mass and dimensions parameters and increasing reliability.

Stable Operation of the Brushless Doubly-Fed Machine (BDFM)
2007 7th International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2007A simple method of controlling the Brushless Doubly-Fed Machine (BDFM) is presented. The controller comprises two Proportional-Integral (PI) modules and requires only the rotor speed feedback. The machine model and the control system are developed in MATLAB. Both simulation and experimental results are presented.

Synchronous operation control of the Brushless Doubly-Fed Machine
2010 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2010The paper presents a novel vector control structure for the Brushless Doubly-Fed Machine (BDFM) which is derived based on the machine synchronous operation. In fact, the synchronous operation of the BDFM provides an efficient approach for determining the required reference angle in the machine vector control structure. The utilization of such reference

Operation of brushless doubly-fed machine for drive applications
4th IET International Conference on Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD 2008), 2008This paper presents dynamic and steady-state performance of the Brushless Doubly-Fed Machine (BDFM) operating as a variable speed drive. A simple closed-loop control system is used which only requires a speed feedback. The controller is capable of stabilising the machine when changes in speed and torque are applied.

A novel brushless synchro: Operation principle and experimental results
2013 21st Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE), 2013In synchroes and resolvers, brushes and slip-rings produce a lot of noise in the output signal. Compared to encoders, the application of such position sensors in precision control systems are restricted because of their lower accuracy. In this research, a novel scheme of a brushless synchro is introduced.
