AXIAL BUCKLING STABILITY OF CEMENTED PIPE

Proceedings of SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1979
Abstract This paper reviews criteria for axial buckling stability of laterally supported pipes. If lateral support is obtained with a surrounding elastic medium, the axial buckling force will approach an asymptotic limit as the length of pipe approaches an infinite length.

Stability buckling and bending of nanobeams including cutouts

Engineering with Computers, 2020
This manuscript developed a comprehensive model and numerical studies to illustrate the effect of perforation parameters on critical buckling loads and static bending of thin and thick nanobeams for all boundary conditions, for the first time. Analytical closed-form solutions are presented for buckling loads and static deflections, respectively.

Nonlinear Buckling and Stability of Cylindrical Panels

SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 1979
The problem of the buckling of a simply supported thin, elastic, cylindrical panel subjected to a uniform axial compression is studied by constructive methods. In the case of “narrow” panels we obtain near the classical buckling load $\lambda _1 $ a description of all stable and unstable buckled states which branch from the unbuckled state at $\lambda ...

Optimal stabilization of plate buckling

Smart Materials and Structures, 1999
Optimal design equations are developed to actively stabilize plates loaded in excess of the critical buckling load using large numbers of sensors and actuators. This optimal design approach is coupled with finite element models to capture the complex dynamics and buckling modes of these systems.

Optimal Stabilization of Column Buckling

Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1999
Linear buckling of column structures is an important design constraint in many structures, particularly where weight is a primary concern. Active strengthening is the application of feedback control to increase the critical buckling load of the structure. An important feature of this control problem is that the structure is inherently unstable when the
