Theoretical Analysis and Structural Optimization of Overload-Protected MEMS Hydrophones

open access: yesMicromachines
MEMS hydrophones, as critical sensors for maritime security and underwater information acquisition, have sensitive membrane structures that exhibit insufficient ability to withstand hydrostatic pressure, necessitating an overload-protection design. Based

Simulation‐Based Analysis of Insert Pull‐Out in Nickel‐Polyurethane Hybrid Foams Using CT‐Derived Geometries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
CT‐based finite element simulations combined with in situ X‐ray computed tomography are used to analyze insert pull‐out in nickel‐coated polymer foams. Despite variations in material parameters, deformation consistently concentrates within a narrow annular region around the insert.

Study on post-buckling crack propagation in thin-walled cylinders under dynamic cyclic load

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal
Buckling is a critical failure mode of the Fast Reactor Main Vessel (FRMV) subjected to seismic load. Post-buckling stability of FRMV is a crucial safety issue during excessive earthquakes.

Buckling mechanism and global stability design method of buckling-restrained braces

open access: yesJournal of Constructional Steel Research, 2017
Abstract Design formulae of buckling-restrained braces, considering the stiffening part of the core and the effect of friction, are proposed, based on theoretical analyses of the buckling mechanism of the steel core in the presence of a gap between the core and the restraining member. The theoretical analyses are validated by finite element analyses.

Fabrication Routes for Ionic Conducting Fiber Strain Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic conducting fiber strain sensors (ICFSs) offer compliant, textile‐integrable sensing. Thus far, the commercialization of ICFSs has been constrained by fiber fabrication routes. This review provides a fabrication‐centric analysis of ICFSs correlating processing strategies with material properties and scalability.

Vibration and buckling of thin-walled composite I-beams with arbitrary lay-ups under axial loads and end moments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A finite element model with seven degrees of freedom per node is developed to study vibration and buckling of thin-walled composite I-beams with arbitrary lay-ups under constant axial loads and equal end moments.

Robust Electrocaloric Performance Enabled by Highly‐Polar Frustrated Nanodomains in NaNbO3‐Based Ferrodistortive Relaxor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
P4bm framework in NaNbO3‐Ba(Ti, Hf)O3 ferrodistortive relaxor entails short‐range and highly‐polar ferrodistortive orders. The abundant highly‐polar orders facilitate to increase entropy change, and robust octahedral oxygen tilt enables to impede thermal perturbations.
