Single-inhaler fluticasone furoate/umeclidinium/vilanterol versus fluticasone furoate/vilanterol plus umeclidinium using two inhalers for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: A randomized non-inferiority study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background: Single-inhaler fluticasone furoate/umeclidinium/vilanterol (FF/UMEC/VI) 100/62.5/25 μg has been shown to improve lung function and health status, and reduce exacerbations, versus budesonide/formoterol in patients with chronic obstructive ...

Contact Sensitization in Patients With Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia: Patch Test Results With an Extended Baseline Series in Consecutive Patients

open access: yesContact Dermatitis, EarlyView.
Sensitization to propolis, shellac and gallate mix is FFA‐associated, but its relevance is largely unknown. Sensitization to salicylates is frequent and associated with symptoms of intolerance to sun exposure or sunscreens. No significant improvement by allergen avoidance is identified.

The effect of adding long acting beta 2 agonists to inhaled corticosteroids versus increasing dose of inhaled corticosteroids in improving asthma control

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Chest Disease and Tuberculosis, 2014
To asthmatic patients with moderate to severe persistent asthma, two main treatment options are recommended: The combination of a long-acting inhaled β2-agonist with inhaled corticosteroids or the use of a higher dose of inhaled corticosteroids.

Contact Sensitisation Trends in Slovenian Children and Adolescents: A Retrospective Single‐Centre Study

open access: yesContact Dermatitis, EarlyView.
Nickel sensitisation in children decreased significantly over time, while dyes and isothiazolinones are emerging allergens. These findings underscore shifting exposure patterns and the need for continuous surveillance to guide effective patch testing and prevention strategies.

The bioavailability and airway clearance of the steroid component of budesonide/formoterol and salmeterol/fluticasone after inhaled administration in patients with COPD and healthy subjects: a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesRespiratory Research, 2009
Background Airway absorption and bioavailability of inhaled corticosteroids (ICSs) may be influenced by differences in pharmacokinetic properties such as lipophilicity and patient characteristics such as lung function.

Treatment With Valoctocogene Roxaparvovec in a Patient With Severe Hemophilia A Led to Sustained Normal FVIII Levels

open access: yesHaemophilia, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Valoctocogene roxaparvovec, an adeno‐associated virus (AAV)‐based gene therapy, enables endogenous factor VIII (FVIII) expression in patients with severe hemophilia A without the need for regular FVIII infusions. Long‐term follow‐up assesses durability, safety, and immune‐related challenges following gene therapy.

Chronic ulcerative oesophagitis rich in IgG4‐positive plasma cells – a distinct clinicopathological entity

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
We report a series of 12 patients (mean age 63 years) with chronic oesophageal ulceration showing morphological features of IgG4‐related inflammatory disease. Most patients underwent several rounds of endoscopy until this association was recognized. The majority of patients went into clinical and histological remission following corticosteroid therapy.
