A Small-Size Cross-Over Trial of Heating Pad Use during Winter on Sleep [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Sleep quality is a key determinant of physical health, mental well-being, and cognitive performance, yet the studies of the influence of indoor environmental factors on sleep in real-world settings remain insufficient.

Communication of the built environment

open access: yesIgra ustvarjalnosti - Creativity Game, 2017
How do we react to different ways of communicating built environment? How do podcasts (sounds), documentaries (images) and social media communicate ideas and concepts often reaching diverse audiences? Drawing on examples of how different knowledge can be communicated through sound (podcast), images (documentary film) and catalogues (social media) we ...

New Technologies for the Prevention of Excavation Damages

open access: yesGeoforum Perspektiv, 2020
Inaccurate and even lack of documentation is the main cause of excavation damage in Denmark. A pipe excavation is most often an expensive and time-consuming affair, and therefore both pipe owners and excavators strive to avoid it as much as possible ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
