Dislocation as a bulk probe of higher-order topological insulators
Topological materials occupy the central stage in the modern condensed matter physics because of their robust metallic edge or surface states protected by the topological invariant, characterizing the electronic band structure in the bulk.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Toughening 3D-printed Zr-based bulk metallic glass via synergistic defects engineering
3D printing provides a novel approach to fabricate bulk metallic glass components without limitations in size and geometry. However, defects (porosity and partial crystallization) are inevitable, which are detrimental to mechanical properties.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Nanometre-scale 3D defects in Cr2AlC thin films
MAX-phase Cr2AlC containing thin films were synthesized by magnetron sputtering in an industrial system. Nanometre-scale 3D defects are observed near the boundary between regions of Cr2AlC and of the disordered solid solution (CrAl)xCy.

Density Functional Theory Study of the Point Defects on KDP (100) and (101) Surfaces
Surface defects are usually associated with the formation of other forms of expansion defects in crystals, which have an impact on the crystals’ growth quality and optical properties.

Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Coupled surface and bulk diffusion in crystals
We analyze point defect bulk and surface diffusion near the crystal–vacuum interface and show that bulk diffusion is coupled with surface diffusion via the atomic processes in the intermediate subsurface layer.

Delamination Detection in Bimetallic Composite Using Laser Ultrasonic Bulk Waves
In this study, a method based on laser ultrasonic bulk waves is used to detect delamination in a bimetallic composite. For this purpose, several artificial delamination defects were created in a copper-aluminum sample using wire-electrode cutting.
