Effect of buoyancy force on buoyancy waterwheel efficiency using numerical flow simulation

open access: yesTEKNOSAINS : Jurnal Sains, Teknologi dan Informatika
In this work, the performance of a buoyant waterwheel to produce hydrokinetic power is investigated through analytical theory and computational fluid dynamics simulation. The impact of the buoyancy wheel is investigated by establishing the performance parameters through the use of a moving mesh approach and a realizable k-ε turbulence model.

Buoyancy effects on the vapor condensation rate on a horizontal liquid surface [PDF]

open access: yes
The results are presented of a numerical study of the effects of buoyancy on the direct condensation of saturated or nearly saturated vapor on a horizontal liquid surface in a cylindrical tank.

Law of the wall in an unstably stratified turbulent channel flow

open access: yes, 2015
We perform direct numerical simulations of an unstably stratified turbulent channel flow to address the effects of buoyancy on the boundary layer dynamics and mean field quantities.

Thermal Buoyancy Effects in RotatingNon‐Isothermal Flows [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rotating Machinery, 2001
The present paper is concerned with the non‐isothermal flow mechanisms in rotating systems with emphasis on the rotation‐induced thermal buoyancy effects stemming from the coexistence of rotational body forces and the nonuniformity of the fluid temperature field.

Turbulence and Mixing in the Intracluster Medium

open access: yes, 2009
The intracluster medium (ICM) is stably stratified in the hydrodynamic sense with the entropy $s$ increasing outwards. However, thermal conduction along magnetic field lines fundamentally changes the stability of the ICM, leading to the "heat-flux ...

Gliding performance is affected by cranial movement of abdominal organs

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2020
Swimming is an extremely popular sport around the world. The streamlined body position is a crucial and foundational position for swimmers. Since the density of lungs is low, the center of buoyancy is always on the cranial side and the center of gravity ...

The kink-type instability of toroidal stellar magnetic fields with thermal diffusion

open access: yes, 2009
The stability of toroidal magnetic fields in rotating radiative stellar zones is studied for realistic values of both the Prandtl numbers. The two considered models for the magnetic geometry represent fields with odd and even symmetry with respect to the
