Three-dimensional stability of Burgers vortices

open access: yes, 2010
Burgers vortices are explicit stationary solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations which are often used to describe the vortex tubes observed in numerical simulations of three-dimensional turbulence.

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Generalized Magnetic Field Effects in Burgers' Nanofluid Model

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2017
Analysis has been conducted to present the generalized magnetic field effects on the flow of a Burgers' nanofluid over an inclined wall. Mathematical modelling for hydro-magnetics reveals that the term "[Formula: see text]" is for the Newtonian model whereas the generalized magnetic field term (as mentioned in Eq 4) is for the Burgers' model which is ...

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Creep Prediction of Fluoroplastics Based on Physics Informed Neural Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access
Fluoroplastics are key sealing materials in rocket engines. They can easily fail due to creep during long-term storage, which may threaten the engines’ safety during operation.

Parameter Sensitivity and Inversion Analysis for a Concrete Face Rockfill Dam Based on CS-BPNN

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2019
The deformation behavior of rockfill is significant to the normal operation of concrete face rockfill dam. Considering both the nonlinear mechanical behavior and long-term rheological deformation, the E-ν model and modified Burgers model are coupled to ...

Determination and verification of the calculated model parameters of salt rocks taking into account softening and plastic flow

open access: yesЗаписки Горного института, 2021
The article suggests using a combination of the modified Burgers model and the Mohr – Coulomb model with the degradation of the adhesion coefficient and the increase in the friction coefficient to determine the parameters of salt rocks.

Copper‐Based Crystalline‐Metallic Glass Composite Thin Films: A Novel Material with Enhanced Strength and Thermally Stable Nanotwins

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A Cu‐based crystal‐glass composite with high‐density twins is identified by a fast screening technique using combinatorial sputtering together with XRD and nanoindentation mapping. This bamboo‐like structure demonstrates homogenous plastic flow and retains high strength during in situ high temperature tests, up to 1 GPa at 550°C, owing to those ...

Study on Creep Behavior of Silty Clay Based on Fractal Derivative

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Soft soil is widely distributed in the riverside area of southern China. The creep deformation characteristics of the soft soil affect the long-term stability of the structure foundation, which cannot be ignored. Through the triaxial drainage creep test,

Ion‐Reconfigurable “N”‐Shaped Antiambipolar Behavior in Organic Electrochemical Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A unique N‐shaped negative differential transconductance (NDT) characteristics is demonstrated in single‐polymer organic electrochemical transistors through a sequential doping–redox–doping process driven by iodide ions. This redox‐driven mechanism enables low‐voltage, ion‐controlled reconfigurability and tunable current modulation, allowing seamless ...
