Integrating gut and IgA‐coated microbiota to identify Blautia as a probiotic for enhancing feed efficiency in chickens

open access: yesiMeta, Volume 4, Issue 1, February 2025.
This study explores the role of IgA‐coated bacteria in improving feed efficiency in chickens, offering a novel perspective for probiotic screening. Chickens with high feed efficiency were found to have a greater abundance of Gram‐positive bacteria, while low feed efficiency chickens exhibited higher levels of Gram‐negative bacteria and potential ...

Hydroalcoholic Extract of Saffron Petals, Yeast Cell Wall and Bentonite Reduce Contamination Effects With Aflatoxin B1 and Ochratoxin A in Exposed Broilers

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 1, January 2025.
The inclusion of toxic adsorbent compounds can reduce the negative effects caused by the presence of Aflatoxin B1 and Ochratoxin A. Saffron petal extract can be used to potentially modulate the contaminated diets with Aflatoxin B1 and Ochratoxin A, best achieved with 750 mg/kg of saffron petal extract along with 0.1% yeast cell wall and 1% processed ...

Effect of Diclazuril on the Bursa of Fabricius Morphology and SIgA Expression in Chickens Infected with Eimeria tenella

open access: yesKorean Journal of Parasitology, 2015
The effects of diclazuril on the bursa of Fabricius (BF) structure and secretory IgA (SIgA) expression in chickens infected with Eimeria tenella were examined. The morphology of the BF was observed by hematoxylin and eosin staining, while ultrastructural

Development of the Bursa of Fabricius in the Partridge and Pheasant

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1987
Development and regression of the bursa of Fabricius was measured in chukar partridge (Alectoris chukar) and ring-necked pheasant (Phasianus colchicus) from hatch to 40 and 34 weeks of age, respectively. Testes weights were recorded for 8 to 34-week-old pheasants and 12 to 30-week-old chukars.

Spontaneous Cloacal Prolapse in a Farm Ostrich (Struthio camelus): Case Management and Literature Review

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 1, January 2025.
A 10‐week‐old female ostrich was presented with a cloacal prolapse accompanied by decreased serum calcium. Surgical management with a temporary purse‐string suture, followed by postoperative care with vitamin–mineral supplementation including calcium, and nutritional adjustments led to an uneventful recovery.

Abiotic stressors in poultry production: A comprehensive review

open access: yesJournal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition, Volume 109, Issue 1, Page 30-50, January 2025.
Abstract In modern animal husbandry, stress can be viewed as an automatic response triggered by exposure to adverse environmental conditions. This response can range from mild discomfort to severe consequences, including mortality. The poultry industry, which significantly contributes to human nutrition, is not exempt from this issue.
