In het vorige PT buxusproject "Taksterfte buxus" is veel kennis opgedaan naar de effectiviteit van geschikte gewasbeschermingsmiddelen tegen de schimmel. Sommige middelen kunnen beter preventief worden ingezet en sommige hebben een meer curatieve werking. Uit de praktijkervaringen werd ook duidelijk dat de ziekte zich zeer snel kan ontwikkelen.
