Catalytic activation of aromatic CH bonds

Journal of Organometallic Chemistry, 1982
Abstract A new reaction is described, involving oxidative addtion of aromatic bromides to palladium(O), two successive insertions of norbornene, and ring closure to the aromatic carbon ortho to the carbon originally bearing the bromine.

The Chemistry of CH Bond Activation on Diamond

Chemistry – An Asian Journal, 2010
AbstractThe surface of hydrogen‐terminated diamond resembles a solid hydrocarbon substrate. Interestingly, the CH bonds on the diamond surface are not as unreactive as that of saturated hydrocarbon molecules owing to its unique surface electronic properties.

Intramolecular C−H Activation Reactions of Molybdenacyclobutanes

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2006
Molybdenacyclobutane complexes can be prepared by reaction of Cp*Mo(NO)(=CHCMe3) (formed spontaneously by loss of neopentane from Cp*Mo(NO)(CH2CMe3)2 (1) under ambient conditions) with cyclic olefins, including cyclopentene, cycloheptene, and cyclooctene. The cyclopentene metallacyclobutane orients the metallacycle bridgehead protons cis to each other.

Photocatalysis in C-H Activation

1993
The catalytic chemistry of organometallic complexes usually depends on coordinative unsaturation. Most substrates can only bind if an empty orbital is available on the metal to receive it. One way in which photochemistry can facilitate catalysis is to generate coordinative unsaturation by photoextrusion of a ligand. Photoextrusion of CO and H2 are both

C-H activation: Good things come in threes.

Nature chemistry, 2016
Three different methods that use a single ruthenium catalyst to enable the facile formation of meta- and para-substituted alkenylarenes have now been developed. The reactions proceed through a tandem alkenylation/decarboxylation process and provide several advantages over alternative approaches.
