Modulation of autocrine TNF-α-stimulated matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) expression by mitogenactivated protein kinases in THP-1 monocytic cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) is implicated in various physiological processes by its ability to degrade the extracellular matrix (ECM) and process multiple regulatory proteins. Normally, MMP-9 expression is tightly controlled in cells. Sustained or

Regulation of p73-mediated apoptosis by c-Jun N-terminal kinase [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 2007
The JNK (c-Jun N-terminal kinase)/mitogen-activated protein kinase signalling pathway is a major mediator of stress responses in cells, including the response to DNA damage. DNA damage also causes the stabilization and activation of p73, a member of the p53 family of transcription factors.

CDK4/6 Inhibition Induces CD8+ T Cell Antitumor Immunity via MIF‐Induced Functional Orchestration of Tumor‐Associated Macrophages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CDK4/6 inhibition promotes CD8+ T cell expansion through tumor‐macrophage crosstalk by activating HIF‐1α and enhancing MIF‐CD44/CD74 signaling. This reprograms TAMs to boost MHC‐I antigen presentation, and CDK4/6 inhibitor‐trained M1 TAM supernatant therapy synergizes with low‐dose PD‐1 blockade to restore antitumor immunity.

c-Jun N-terminal kinase 1 (JNK1) modulates oligodendrocyte progenitor cell architecture, proliferation and myelination

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
During Central Nervous System ontogenesis, myelinating oligodendrocytes (OLs) arise from highly ramified and proliferative precursors called oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs).

Phenyl Saligenin Phosphate Induced Caspase-3 and c-Jun N-Terminal Kinase Activation in Cardiomyocyte-Like Cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
At present, little is known about the effect(s) of organophosphorous compounds (OPs) on cardiomyocytes. In this study we have investigated the effects of phenyl saligenin phosphate (PSP), two organophosphorothioate insecticides (diazinon and chlorpyrifos)

c-Jun N-terminal kinase-dependent mechanisms in respiratory disease [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Respiratory Journal, 2006
Respiratory diseases pose a multifaceted dilemma. Although the symptoms and pathology are obvious and provide multiple opportunities for therapeutic investigation, at the same time, the molecular complexities and prioritisation are overwhelming.Even within a disease such as asthma, the number of inducers, cell types, secondary mediators, chemical ...

Modulation of Hepatic Fibrosis by c-Jun-N-Terminal Kinase Inhibition [PDF]

open access: yesGastroenterology, 2010
c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) is activated by multiple profibrogenic mediators; JNK activation occurs during toxic, metabolic, and autoimmune liver injury. However, its role in hepatic fibrogenesis is unknown.JNK phosphorylation was detected by immunoblot analysis and confocal immunofluorescent microscopy in fibrotic livers from mice after bile duct ...

The Mitochondrial Guardian α‐Amyrin Mitigates Alzheimer's Disease Pathology via Modulation of the DLK‐SARM1‐ULK1 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dietary habits play a key role in chronic diseases, and higher annual consumption of fruit and vegetable may lower risk of dementia. Artificial intelligence predicts the lipid‐like compound α‐Amyrin (αA) from plants with edible peels as a drug candidate against Alzheimer's disease.

Polyubiquitin binding to ABIN1 is required to prevent autoimmunity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The protein ABIN1 possesses a polyubiquitin-binding domain homologous to that present in nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kappa B) essential modulator (NEMO), a component of the inhibitor of NF-kappa B (I kappa B) kinase (IKK) complex.

Disrupting the Formation of YAP Condensates Promotes the Activation of AMPKα to Inhibit the Progression of Primary Liver Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study systematically investigates the function and molecular mechanisms of YAP phase separation in multiple primary liver cancers. These findings provide novel insights into phase separation‐mediated primary liver cancer development and validate targeted disruption of this process as an effective therapeutic strategy for primary liver cancer ...
