Investigation of asialoglycoprotein receptor glycosylation by lectin affinity methods [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2002
The asialoglycoprotein receptor belongs to the family of calcium-dependent (C-type) animal lectins. The purified receptor is a glycoprotein in which 10 % of the dry weight consists of sialic acid, galactose, N-acetylglucosamine and mannose.

An innovative immunotherapeutic strategy for ovarian cancer: CLEC10A and glycomimetic peptides

open access: yesJournal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer, 2018
Background Receptors specific for the sugar N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc) include the human type II, C-type lectin receptor macrophage galactose-type lectin/C-type lectin receptor family member 10A (MGL/CLEC10A/CD301) that is expressed prominently by ...

C-type lectin receptors in skin immunity

open access: yesAdvances in Biomedical and Health Sciences, 2022
C-type lectin receptors (CLRs) are a superfamily of transmembrane proteins, which consist of one or several C-type lectin-like domains and intracellular signaling motifs, such as immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motif (ITAM) or immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motif (ITIM).

Effects of the lactase 13910 C/T and calcium-sensor receptor A986S G/T gene polymorphisms on the incidence and recurrence of colorectal cancer in Hungarian population [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background: Epidemiological studies suggested the chemopreventive role of higher calcium intake in colorectal carcinogenesis. We examined genetic polymorphisms that might influence calcium metabolism: lactase (LCT) gene 13910 C/T polymorphism causing ...

Inhibitory C-type lectin receptors in myeloid cells

open access: yesImmunology Letters, 2011
C-type lectin receptors encoded by the natural killer gene complex play critical roles in enabling NK cell discrimination between self and non-self. In recent years, additional genes at this locus have been identified with patterns of expression that extend to cells of the myeloid lineage where many of the encoded inhibitory receptors have equally ...

Information transfer in mammalian glycan-based communication

open access: yeseLife, 2023
Glycan-binding proteins, so-called lectins, are exposed on mammalian cell surfaces and decipher the information encoded within glycans translating it into biochemical signal transduction pathways in the cell.

The diverse roles of C-type lectin-like receptors in immunity

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2023
Our understanding of the C-type lectin-like receptors (CTLRs) and their functions in immunity have continued to expand from their initial roles in pathogen recognition. There are now clear examples of CTLRs acting as scavenger receptors, sensors of cell death and cell transformation, and regulators of immune responses and homeostasis.

Tailoring the Immune Microenvironment of Dendritic Cells by Targeting C - type Lectin Receptor

open access: yesReproductive and Developmental Medicine, 2017
Background: The C-type lectin receptor (CLR) expressed by DCs participates in the recognition and capture of various glycosylated self-antigens and pathogens.

Signaling C-type lectin receptors in antimycobacterial immunity

open access: yesPLOS Pathogens, 2017
The mammalian innate immune system is composed of phagocytes such as macrophages and dendritic cells that serve as the first line of defense against microbial infections. These cells express various pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) that recognize specific pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) on the surface of or inside microorganisms [1].

The structure of human CD23 and its interactions with IgE and CD21

open access: yes, 2005
The low-affinity immunoglobulin E ( IgE) receptor, CD23 ( Fc epsilon RII), binds both IgE and CD21 and, through these interactions, regulates the synthesis of IgE, the antibody isotype that mediates the allergic response.
