C-type natriuretic peptide and heart failure
Pharmacological Research, 2006C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) is a peptide produced by the vascular endothelium with vasodilative properties. It shares structural and physiological properties with the atrial and brain natriuretic peptides (ANP and BNP), whose central role in the pathophysiology of heart failure (CHF) is firmly established.

C‐type natriuretic peptide in prostate cancer
APMIS, 2009C‐type natriuretic peptide (CNP) is expressed in the male reproductive organs in pigs. To examine whether the human prostate also expresses the CNP gene, we measured CNP and N‐terminal proCNP in prostate cancer tissue extracts and performed immunohistochemical biopsy staining.

C-type natriuretic peptide: a selective cardiovascular peptide
American Journal of Physiology-Regulatory, Integrative and Comparative Physiology, 1993Studies were performed in three groups of anesthetized dogs to compare the structurally related peptides atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP). Group 1 (n = 5) and group 2 (n = 4) received intravenous infusions of CNP or ANP respectively at doses of 10 ng.kg-1.min-1 and 100 ng.kg-1.min-1.

C-Type Natriuretic Peptide and Overgrowth
2009Natriuretic peptides are a family of structurally related peptides with different distinct biological effects. C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP)-mediated signaling is important for endochondral ossification and intervenes in the control of chondrocyte maturation by regulating the balance between proliferation and terminal differentiation. CNP is encoded

Plasma brain natriuretic peptide and C-type natriuretic peptide in essential hypertension
Journal of Hypertension, 1994To study the relationship between hypertension and the plasma levels of brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP), and to determine whether the plasma levels of BNP and CNP are correlated.A cross-sectional study of the plasma levels of BNP and CNP in hypertensive patients and normotensive controls matched for age and sex was ...

C-type natriuretic peptide and atrial natriuretic peptide receptors of rat brain
American Journal of Physiology-Regulatory, Integrative and Comparative Physiology, 1993Natriuretic peptide receptors in rat brain were mapped by in vitro autoradiography using 125I-labeled [Tyr0]CNP-(1-22) to bind atrial natriuretic peptide receptor (ANPR)-B and ANPR-C receptors selectively, and 125I-labeled alpha-ANP to select ANPR-A and ANPR-C receptors.

Clinical Science, 2004
We have identified recently a new peptide, NT-proCNP(1–50) (N-terminal pro-C-type natriuretic peptide), in the circulation of humans and sheep. A previous report of an elevated fetal–maternal gradient in immunoreactive CNP raised the possibility that processing and metabolism of proCNP may differ in maternal and fetal tissues.

To elucidate the ligand-receptor relationship of the natriuretic peptide system, which comprises at least three endogenous ligands, atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), and C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP), and three receptors, the ANP-A receptor or guanylate cyclase-A (GC-A), the ANP-B receptor or guanylate cyclase-B (GC ...

C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) is the major natriuretic peptide in human cerebrospinal fluid
Brain Research, 1993In order to investigate whether C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) is present in human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), we measured CNP-like immunoreactivity (-LI) in human CSF by specific radioimmunoassay (RIA) for CNP. We also measured atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) concentrations in human CSF. ANP-LI, BNP-LI, and CNP-LI

Selective Activation of the B Natriuretic Peptide Receptor by C-Type Natriuretic Peptide (CNP)
Science, 1991The natriuretic peptides are hormones that can stimulate natriuretic, diuretic, and vasorelaxant activity in vivo, presumably through the activation of two known cell surface receptor guanylyl cyclases (ANPR-A and ANPR-B). Although atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and, to a lesser extent, brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) are efficient activators of the ...
