An Overview of Sex Bias in C. neoformans Infections. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Fungi (Basel), 2018

Immunity to Cryptococcus neoformans and C. gattii during cryptococcosis [PDF]

open access: yesFungal Genetics and Biology, 2015
The vast majority of infection with cryptococcal species occurs with Cryptococcus neoformans in the severely immunocompromised. A significant exception to this is the infections of those with apparently normal immune systems by Cryptococcus gattii. Susceptibility to cryptococcosis can be broadly categorised as a defect in adaptive immune responses ...

Improved diagnostic medium for separation of Cryptococcus neoformans var. neoformans (serotypes A and D) and Cryptococcus neoformans var. gattii (serotypes B and C) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 1982
A simple new agar medium containing L-canavanine, glycine, and bromthymol blue was found to give a clearer and more accurate distinction between serotype A or D (Cryptococcus neoformans var. neoformans) and serotype B or C (C. neoformans var. gattii) than creatinine-dextrose-bromthymol blue or glycine-cycloheximide-phenol red media.
