The underutilized parts viz: pawpaw seed, banana, plantain, and potato peels showed promising antioxidant and inhibition of α‐amylase and α‐glucosidase activities (IC50 values ≤ 100 μg/mL). Similarly, pawpaw seed, banana, plantain, and potato peels reduced postprandial hyperglycemia in sucrose‐ and maltose‐induced hyperglycemia in rats.

Clonorchis sinensis antigens alter hepatic macrophage polarization in vitro and in vivo. [PDF]
Clonorchis sinensis infection elicits hepatic inflammation, which can lead to cholangitis, periductal hepatic fibrosis, liver cirrhosis, and even cholangiocarcinoma. Hepatic macrophages are an intrinsic element of both innate and acquired immunity.

This study evaluated Bambara groundnut–wheat composite bread fortified with orange peel in diabetic rats. Diets significantly lowered blood glucose, inhibited α‐glucosidase and α‐amylase, and boosted antioxidant enzymes compared to controls. Results emphasize BG‐based functional foods' potential to help manage type 2 diabetes through regulation of ...

Addition of old green tea leaves, soursop flowers and ginger root extract at concentrations 1000, 1400, and 1800 ppm in palm olein significantly extend its shelf‐life during frying of plantain chips. These plants' extracts are potential alternative to the use of synthetic antioxidants in preserving oil quality. Abstract This work was designed to assess
